Best poles available |

| These are the best poles around! The fliplocks are adjustable even with a double layer overmitt in -25 degree weather. I do not like the twist lock poles because they become unadjustable in cold weather especially when snow and ice build up along the shaft and they can come untwisted when turning in deep snow. I like the two section pole because there is less opportunity for failure. Yes, they are a few inches longer but just strap them on the outside of your pack, which is where sharp objects should be attached. I have used a pair for telemark, alpine and nordic skiing in addition to summer hiking and they work perfectly for all types of activities because their length is adjustable. I finally had to replace my first pair with a new set after the carbide tips got jammed up inside. It took 8 years of weekly use to accomplish that; I have no complaints about these poles. |

Works good, lasts a long time! |

| I've had a pair for 12 years, some of those ski patrolling (hard use), and they're still straight and true. Old set appear identical except they have smaller grips and full baskets plus different graphics. Old ones were also made in Italy by Gipron. New ones in China. Took my new ones out for a BC tour and bent a lower shaft the first day. I had them fully extended for climbing/traversing and I inadvertently side-loaded one when slipping on ice. I straightened it sufficiently to use it the rest of the tour. Since bought a replacement lower shaft [...]. Hard to fault the pole; full extension is tough and they were servicable for the duration of the tour which is what really counts!I'd prefer 3-section so I could pack a spare INSIDE my pack. |

Great tool for a young 89 year old Mom |

| I purchased these poles for my 89 year old mother who recently moved back to the midwest from her AZ home. These poles along with her Yaktrak enable her to walk around downtown Waukesha. Lots of stability and an easy locking system should keep her happy and upright. She says the sidewalks are shoveled but the curbs can be filled with snow and/or icy. These poles provide her winter independence. I live in the northeast so I haven't seen her in action yet but I smile when I think about what a picture she must make! |

good but...careful on the downhill |

They're good poles. The flicklock mechanism works flawlessly even at 0 degrees.
Black Diamond definitely sacrifices a little strength to make them lighter, though. I had mine planted and my ski hit it--there was contact, but it really wasn't all that hard--and it snapped in half. In my opinion, a regular pole would have withstood the impact. They had about 3 months of use on them, 20-25 days total.
Overall: Good for going uphill and fine on the downhill...just remember they're light! |

All around great poles! |

| Plain and simple, the poles are worth it. They have an attractive look to them. They are readily adjustable to almost any size. The tips bight into hard pack and ice easily. Stiff enough to support just about anyone but still absorb alot of impact. Baskets cover a good amount of area to keep pole from going to deep. |

Excellent Poles |

| I strongly recommend BD poles with the flicklock mechanism. The poles are secure and no fumbling with screw type adjustments. The two section traverse poles do not colaspe as short as the three section poles but are stronger and have one less thing to go wrong. I recommend you have a screw driver on hand just in case. |

| I actually took these back to the store but the clerk knew how to adjust the locks and persuaded me to keep them. I think they're going to be just fine but I haven't tested them yet. |
