Love it but installation is NOT a snap!

Once installed you'll love it. The Limbsaver pad is great as an added bonus on the newer model. I ran into some glitches installing the stock and forend on my Rem 870 but once you know what's going on it's easy. 1. If you haven't removed the barrel, action, and bolt before, do it a couple of times before installing the stock so you know what to expect. 2. Part 3 of the instructions deal with removing the "Top Slide from the main Stock". It doesn't just slide off, it requires some pulling and messing with the Tension Tool. Don't pry or hammer it but expect to have to use some force. 3. The back of the trigger on my 870 was rough and required a little filing with a flat file to get a flush fit. Not Blackhawk's fault. 4. The forend fits but you must pull the sides out a little to get the action arms to seat and you have to do this while the notch and groove on the bottom of the forend are lined up. It might require a little prying with a small screwdriver but no Dremel grinding is needed. Save yourself some hastle and buy a forend nut removal tool. This was the first time I'd taken my 870 (or ant gun) down, so if I can do it, so can you. The stock and forend are heavy duty - look like they'll stand a lot of abuse. A great upgrade to my shotgun and well worth the few installation glitches.

Very good choice

I purchased this item after a debate between a few different models and needless to say I was very impressed! Fit my Mossburg 500 home defense and field combo like a glove. Looks good to. Now my home defense shotgun looks like something straight off the SWAT Team truck. Thanks Cabelas.
