Essential Deer/Big Game Gear

My friend and I tried this last fall in the bluffs along the Mississippi on the Wisconsin side to pull my big buck up hill. We were land locked so we needed to bring a deer up the bluff to our field on top. This was a tremendous help going up the steep bluff to the top. Granted it doesn't run itself up the hill but it makes much much easier compared to the grab an antler method or making a pull harness out of 550 cord! After hoisting my deer I lost a ratchet after it fell off when I was hosing it down, but I was able to use my old faithful 550 cord to replace it and get back up and running and help my friend get his deer out. I did stretch a grommet out on the big buck going over a downed tree, we simply ran the rope through the grommet and tied it off to the neck of the deer. After that we realized that a big downed tree we would need pull up rather than dragging and once the head was over the log resume dragging and it would slide right over the tree. I found this really helped me on my hunt. Between the compact size and weight it's a great addition to a deer hunters gear. Would I recommend to a friend: YES, I already have.

awesome idea

Unless you bow hunt in your back yard (or road hunt) this is almost a must have for deer hunters. Anybody who has ever had to drag a deer out of the woods and is familiar with the concept of friction will understand why this is a great product. My grandpa and I drug a deer out together and barely got it out of the woods. A friend pulled one of these out of his truck and we tested it out and I could pull it fairly easily by myself. Got one of my own and have been very happy with the quality all around. I love how light and easy it is to bring with. I've noticed that it's important to learn the right way to lay the deer inside and strap it down but once I figured that out it pretty much just does what its supposed to.

Never buy again

I had a long drag aprox 2 miles, after 300 ft going up hill allready had a hole in bottom, catching every twig and stickI I went over. Got so bad I took deer off sled and drug the deer the old fashion way. The only way the sled would work is if you got a deer in your back yard with a 10 ft drag.
