Boatlife Git Rot Penetrating Epoxy -
Easy-to-use epoxy rescues dry-rotted wood from oblivion

Soaks into wood fibers and restores strength to rotten sections. By drilling small holes into fiberglass laminations, underlying wood can be saturated and much of its original strength can be restored. Cures overnight. Can be sanded, painted, drilled, tapped and is compatible with most sealants and paints. Two parts in each package: resin and hardener.

git rot

I have found this product stops the rot and gives you a good base to put some type of filler in. It made the wood as strong, if not stronger than the original. I have used it on window sills and trim in my house also. Treat with git rot, fill with fiberglass filler, sand and paint and you would never know it was repaired. I am presuming the person that said it did not work at all did not follow the directions on use or did not get the product into the rotten wood well enough. There are a number of steps and you do have to let things dry inbetween but I think this is a fantastic product as long as there is enough wood left for the epoxy to soak into.

Good Stuff

Obviously replacement of the damaged wood would be preferable, if possible. But, many times a small area of rot can be more easily repaired. Mixed thoroughly, allowed to penetrate the area for repair and given time to cure, Git Rot will do the job. Once cured, the area can be filled (I've used Marine Tex many times) sanded and refinished for a very decent quality repair.

Negative Reviews:

Didn't work like the product says

Don't waste your time and money, just replace the rotten wood if it's possible.
