I just keep buying these over and over
I have been wearing this model of sunglasses for about 10 years or more. I usually buy a few pairs at a time. Best glasses I have ever owned. The main things I like about them are:
- They offer great protection from harsh wind (mountain biking, skiing etc)
- They don't move around too much
- The lens sits a bit further from my eyes so my eyelashes don't brush against them when I blink
- The frames are indestructable
- I can wear them all day and not get a headache bc they are very light, not too tight, but still don't move on my face much
-Grey tint offers good true color rendering
So why do I get so many (on my 8th pair now)? Mostly scratches on the lens (I never use the case/bag like I should) and losing them.
Don't spend $100-$200 for quality
I had bought the same sun glasses several years ago and recently began looking to replace them with the same ones since I got such great service and protection from them. I ride a motorcycle and after approcimately 20,000 miles wearing these glasses there were several small pits in the lenses. Considering the sand and rock hits I have taken it is remarkable that they held up as well as they have and completely protected my eyes. They are light weight but rugged and always stay in place while riding and heavy wind. I have bought sun glasses for 3-4 times the price and these are superior.
Best fitting sunglasses ever
Probably the fifth pair of this model I have had in approx 15 years. They were formerly called "401" or "Strand". These are a classic design that are the most remarkably fitting sunglasses I have ever owned. I have left one on roof of my car, driven over another with a different car, broken one, lost one, but I always re-order this model. These look great regardless of what you are wearing, and I mountain bike with them, they are nice and tight fitting (yet incredibly comfortable) and are great for outdoor sports...
Great Shades for Active Sports & more
This is my third or fourth pair of these gems. I think I've left two on the bumper of my SUV! I've purchased other brands and designs, but I keep coming back to these. For cycling and paddling, they can't be beat. Lightweight with outstanding coverage. I have a large head and these fit perfectly. One won't have to be concerned about these falling off, unless you leave them on the bumper of an SUV.
This is my third pair of Bolle 401s, not because they wear out quickly or scratch easily (they don't) but because I wear them constantly and I eventually trash them. I always keep a pair or two as spares. Although I use other sunglasses (with cable temples) for hiking, these would be just fine with the right strap. They are dark, nicely polarized, and they fit a larger face very comfortably.
I have learned to always wear croakies with sunglasses- you know- the around-the-neck fabric sunglasses holder... so the cheap feeling plastic of these frames and the lack of little rubber pads etc does not matter.
Its the lenses... omg- they are just great. Good coverage, tint, etc etc sweeeeet!
My eyelashes dont hit- bonus.
We will see how fogged up they get in cold weather with all that coverage...
Good but not Great.
These are good for the price, but the lenses slightly distort your view at close range, i.e. the golf ball you are hitting or the fly you are tying. Not a big deal for casual use, but not great for anything requiring hand-eye coordination. It is not because of the polarization either. I have other polarized glasses that do not caused skewed vision.
Great glasses for the price
I love these glasses for whitewater boating, both raft and kayak. This is my second pair; I lost the first after going for an unexpected underwater swim while kayaking on the Salmon River in Idaho. I'll use a better retention strap next time! They are lightweight, comfortable, and provide excellent coverage. The polarization provides greater detail in the rapids.
Christmas present from my wife to replace Bolle sunglasses I lost; I think they're the same glasses (perhaps polarization added) and I am happy so far. Same good fit, same nylon frames that should be durable. The price is steeper than my old pair if I recall correctly, but certainly more affordable than the oakleys I tend to lose.
Great fit, styling, and optical quality
These are good-quality, medium-priced polarized sunglasses. They are wide enough for a larger face, and the bottoms of the lenses don't make contact with the face. The fit is snug but comfortable. I find the optical quality to be very good, without distortion. This is a return order for these glasses so that I have spares.
