The greatest whitewater spews out of snow-capped mountains. The Bomber Gear TheBomb Dry Top keeps you more than comfortable, allowing the furious paddling necessary to get through hypothermia-inducing hydraulics and waterfalls. The waterproof but breathable outer shell fabric keeps all frigid water out with the help of engineered neoprene cuffs, neck, and waist. That way you can pop up after big drops, giant holes, or crucial rolls and keep your wits about you.
Paddled Colorado this summer and this dry top was awesome. Paddled 20 miles of Clear Creek with only a rashguard under this and was warm for the most part. It is extremely well made. I do recommend (that's a nice way of me saying you should defiantly) stretch the Seals and gaskets on it so its not crazy tight on your first trip out. I'm a mid sized guy and ordered a small so that might have something to do with it. After the first day of use however I noticed my right sleeve gasket was cracking around all of the stitching so I'm going to exchange mine. Still 5 well earned stars.
I've been on the water for year, and was a whitewater guide at one time in the 90's; and have a number of dry-tops over the years. I must say, "the quality of the jacket is second to non". The instruction video I found on Youtube was just what I needed to make the necessary gasket adjustments. As instructed, beware and only cut one ring at a time. I followed, and now have a perfect fit.
Even better I found it on sale for just $272. on BackCountry.
BTW, Backcountry is the best company I've bought from anywhere!
These tops run small, very small. You'll need to order one full size above what you normally wear (Immersion Reseach, etc.) High quality stuff though.
