Boone Bird Rigs, Great Value

I had long known of Boone as a leading manufacturer of Bird Rigs and was very pleased to find a full rig from Cabela's for less than $35 including a 9 1/2" "bird," three 3/4-oz. Air Eyes, and a solid 8/0 hook in the "stinger" sea minnow. All tackle is included in a quality mesh bag that allows the rig to dry effectively between uses. This is a terrific value over what you might typically find in a local tackle store. The rig tracks wonderfully and the bird sends up a perfect tuna-attracting splash. The rig has adequately sized snap swivels that make for quick and easy changes of the daisy chain when you wish to alter colors or lure profile. The only caution is that before fishing the first time, check all the crimps carefully. While fishing next to a friend who was using the identical rig, he experienced a crimp that gave way on a strike. However, given that all tackle should be inspected carefully before use, this rig simply catches fish and is an excellent value.

A bit cheap

I purchased this rig to be trolled while depolyed. I was not impressed with the bird itself, the paint and some of the plastic on the bird was chipped off prior to shipping, the missing piece of the bird was not in the package, i do not think that they QA the product prior to shipping. Other than that I would say it is a good price for such a rig..
