Born Cabot Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I am new to the Born brand having just bought a pair of these "Cabot" sandals from a department store two weeks ago. I have to say that they are, without a doubt, the most comfortable sandal I have ever owned. I came to the Zappos web site looking for another pair of Born shoes I might be able to wear to work (a business casual shoe), and I happened upon the rather unflattering one-star review of the very shoe I have been admiring for the past couple of weeks. I cannot, in any way, discount the one-star reviewers concerns regarding durability because I have only owned these shoes for two weeks, but I felt compelled to offer a differing opinion. I have been raving about these sandals to anyone who will listen, and I must admit that I can hardly tolerate wearing any other shoe now that I have experienced the comfort of these sandals. In fact, I can hardly wait to get home at night to kick off my work shoes and kick around in these most comfortable of shoes. Clearly, I can't attest to how these shoes might perform in the mountains or on a hiking trail, but I must say that if you are looking for a comfortable, casual sandal for every day "normal" use then look no further. Buy these sandals and you will not be sorry!! Heck, ever the one-star reviewer gave these shoes five stars for comfort and I completely agree with that!

I have several pairs of Borns and just love them they are so comfortable, this order was a little difficult because of the reviews, which were not great. I am glad I followed my own feelings about Born, the cabot is a great sandal it has been on my foot daily since I purchased them, way to go Zappos.

Negative Reviews:

The Cabot is the renamed Woodward: Do not buy this sandal. Let me begin by saying that I am a totally committed longtime Born sandal enthusiast. Since buying my first pair more than 10 years ago, I have owned and worn out at least half a dozen pairs. I reckon I have trudged many hundreds of miles in my Borns across all kinds of urban and outback terrain and in all kinds of weather. My Borns were comfortable, durable, and, as I like to tell friend and stranger alike, they are indestructible even though I actually do eventually wear them out they after years and many miles of good, hard use. Except for the Woodward, now known as the Cabot. I bought my one and only pair of Woodwards in February 2012 and they were totally useless in six months. Yes, they looked and felt great and appeared to be the same sturdy built Borns that I could expect to wear for a long time. No way the Woodward had a fatal design flaw that killed mine dead in just over six months. There are two elastic cords in each sandal that bind the upper leather panels together, something like a shoelace, and like a shoelace, it breaks long before the shoe wears out. When the cord in my Woodwards broke, the top panels separated, the sandal fell off my foot, and I was up a mountain in Italy, 5 kilometers from the nearest town. This wasn't my best day in Garfagnana. And now, we have the Cabot, which is exactly the same sandal as the ex-Woodward. Do not buy this sandal; it will let you down. Surely Born knows about this design flaw and I am disappointed Born would roll it out again under a new name: The Woodward-Cabot sandal is not up to their advertised standard of excellence. They need to recall this dog. In the meantime, I have switched to the Naot Kevin sandal. I will look at Born again when the time for new sandals comes but they will not be a shoo in next time.

We had the same experience as the other reviewer, my husband had the woodward which is the same as the cabot here and he loved it while it lasted. We were just in NYC last week, perfect weather to do a 4-5 mile walk around town and that's when the elastic cord blew apart! Really great quality shoe can't understand why it's secured together in such a way. They need to eliminate elastic from all shoes, I've never seen it last.
