The "Ethiopia Full Grain Leather" color is not really what the picture makes it seam. The actual tone is a similar dark brown but it has an almost frosted/dusty look. Not at all what I was expecting, but I still kept the shoes. Fit is comfortable and relaxed for a dress shoe. I normally wear a size 13 running shoe but a size 12 Born Thayer fits perfect. Outsole and midsole is all one piece dense foam. Insole is permanent and made of padded leather. It also came with two styles of laces; one light (pictured) and one a medium/light brown that did not look good. I guess it's nice to have a spare just in case. Main negative is that the white midsole gets dirty very quickly and they immediately lose the stylish contrast of the clean white with dark leather. Minor negative is that the shoelaces don't keep a tight knot until they are broken in. I had to keep retying my shoes for the first few weeks. Also, some people seem to think they look like bowling shoes...
I purchased black shoes with gray laces. I have been wearing them to work for about a month. The heel is very stiff and slightly uncomfortable for the first few days. The shoes were tight at the beginning but now feel a little loose. The shoes are wearing faster than I would like them to. The laces are fraying (they did come with a second pair but they are brown?) I gave them four stars overall because I am worried about how long they will last.
I am very happy with these shoes! Stylish and VERY comfortable. The shoes came with two pairs of well made round laces - white and light brown. I've debated purchasing another pair of these shoes to have in reserve for when my current pair wears out.
I bought these for my husband's birthday. He just loves them and can't help giving compliments. By the way, Zappos shipping is awesome as they promised!
