If only every partnership worked so well. The Born Lecia Women's Boot combines the style of full-grain leather material with the comfort of a suede and fabric lining to form the perfect union, ideal for an autumn excursion to the park or an evening window shopping adventure with friends. Add the functionality of a cork-infused rubber outsole and steel shank, and you can stride with confidence, knowing this boot is built to last. And with a height of 17.25 inches and the full-length lace feature, you'll want this boot with you anytime you want to make a cool-weather fashion statement.
First and foremost, the design and look of these boots are what caught my attention and in person, they look exactly like the pic.
Secondly and even better, I slipped my foot in to be pleasantly surprised with the cushy foot bed!!! No breaking in time - the first go round felt like they weren't new - the leather is so flexible and bends from the get go, the foot bed has a layer of something similar to memory foam so the sole confirms to your foot, the laces are a little stiff but it's actually a good thing when tucking them away, and lastly the zipper didn't stick and although that may seem silly to highlight, it's important to me that on a pair of tall boots, there's a smooth zip to get out the door quick and fast.
These are true to size but if you're stuck on sizing, go smaller - I wear a size 8 in most brands of boots and the Born Lecia size 8 is a tad roomier in the base and the higher calf area, than my other boots.
Lastly, the height and look/ feel of the top - I'm 5' 5" and from my heel to my knee cap, that measures about 19 or 20 inches; the top sits about an inch below my knee cap - the shaft height is dead on 17.25 inches and I love the height. The top is neither constraining or roomy, it's perfect from the top through the calf (mine = 13 inch around) down to the ankle.
I have several pairs of shoes by Born and every single one of them is totally awesome. These boots are no exception. They are the epitome functional badassedness. The footbeds are ridiculously comfortable and will work with thicker socks, as well as thin ones. I wear a 91/2 to 10 in most shoes. All my Borns are size 10. I have very skinny calves, total chicken legs, and these boots fit me well. They aren't skin tight, but they don't flop or look like I'm a kid wearing my mom's boots either. That's always a big concern for me. So many of the currently fashionable boots look silly with my scrawny legs in them. These Borns are timeless. I plan on uploading pictures soon. They're my go-to boot for every occasion, dressed up or down, pants or dresses/skirts. I got them in red and the color is a deep luscious red, not a cheeky fire red. They go fabulously with everything.
Full length lace is really what appealed to me to these born boots, I am so happy I got the Lecia boots. There is a zipper on the inside of the boots, so that you can get into the boot easily and don't have to re-lace. Cork-infused rubber outsole makes these boots the most comfortable pair you own, I feel like I'm walking on clouds when rocking these! The full grain leather material is actually pretty weather proof, I have been in snow and rain and mine still look brand new! Born is known for fitting true to size and these boots aren't an exception, keep to your normal size and mostly likely the fit will be perfect!
Oh man I struggle with tall boots. These are great for a larger calf. My calf measures about 15". These fit with a little room to spare. The sizing described below is right on with how this boot fits. That being said I was lacing the boots up for the first time and POP! goes one of the loop eyelets. Looks like it wasn't even sewn in. Instead of returning them I opted for having a local cobbler add metal eyelets to replace the leather sewn in ones. I tend to be hard on boots and want them to last. Worth it for me. Boots are made for zipping not for lacing... :)
