Bomber for hiking in wet climates

Rating:****
I took two pairs of these socks to Dolly Sods wilderness area in West Virginia this past weekend. After constant rain, miles of mucking through puddles and mud, and multiple stream crossings, my feet were pretty much soaked and my Gore-tex was defeated. After all this abuse these socks still retained impressive loft. Twenty miles of soaked trail and my feet were in pretty good shape. Not a single blister or hot spot. I couldn't ask for more from a sock given the conditions we were operating in.

It doesn't get much better than this!

Rating:*****
I love the cushioning and wicking properties of these socks. I wore them on a 10-mile hike in new boots and they kept my feet happy the entire time. The knit-in arch support is very comfortable, and the extra cushioning at the back of the ankle really helps prevent irritation when you're logging serious miles. You just can't go wrong with Bridgedale. I have come to realize that comfortable, well-made socks are worth the extra money you spend on them.

My review of Bridgedale Ascent Socks

Rating:****
I did not realize these socks were seconds. The first time I put them on they felt like they might have been orgionally rejected because I had to force my feet into them like I was breaking stitches that might have been in error. After I "ripped" my feet into them the first time, the next time the socks felt better. The socks meets all my expectations

Best socks!

Rating:*****
I have bought other Bridgedale socks [...]. I bought these because I knew they would fit and wear well, look and feel good. These are a bit lighter (part CoolMax instead of all wool) than my others but I love them already. I know how they'll wear because my other pairs I've had for several years and are still in great shape.

These are comfortable, I want more.l

Rating:*****
These were a Christmas present for my husband. As soon as he wore them he said "Where did you get these, I'd like some more" My feet don't hurt when I wear these all day at work. He likes the fact that they aren't tight at the top like many socks, yet they manage to stay up.

Finally, a sock that allows circulation!

Rating:*****
Finally, here is a sock that stays up AND lets my circulation stay normal. I don't know about their endurability yet, I'll tell you later. But for now I think I've found the sock of my dreams! The wool in them makes for a comfortable and warm fit.

A serious sock for serious people. WOW!

Rating:*****
These sock's are incredible. I wear them as a work boot sock. They are extremely soft,non-irritating and comfortable. They wick the moisture off my hot feet and that is huge. These socks are the best all around sock for work, play and everything in between.

Comfortable, long wearing, dependable

Rating:****
I work outdoors and wear work boots and shoes. Once the right size shoe is worn these socks fit the bill. They can only do so much and the majority of fit depends on quality shoes. These socks last for numerous seasons.

Superb all around sock!

Rating:*****
Absolutely unbeatable for wicking power! Super comfortable even on long and/or vigorous hikes as well as for long days on your feet, great fit, cool in warm temps, great odour control, terrific cushion. One of my favourite socks of all time!

Great Sock!

Rating:****
Great socks! I used them on a 3 day backpacking trip and they were great! Not one blister. Kept my feet dry and cool - even in my boots and during a down pour on the first night. Very comfortable.

Negative Reviews:

snags and runs

Rating:**
While it's always a bit of a chance buying "seconds" this sock was full of snags and runs and feels like it could pull apart at any time.

Neutral Reviews:

great socks

Rating:***
These are great socks, a little bulky but warm and fine in boots and Crocs in winter.
