Briggs & Riley Excursion Backpack Reviews:

Nearly perfect. I commute in NYC and wanted a backpack with a top flap that wasn't a rucksack (too insecure for riding the subway). The bag also needed to have a few zippered outside pockets (again, security) for commuting essentials and my iPhone, and preferably an exterior water bottle holder. I didn't want a multitude of interior "organizer" pockets because I do sometimes switch to a regular purse and most of my stuff is in pouches to make changing bags easier. Interior organizers just add unnecessary bulk and weight. This bag has all of that, and unlike many similar backpacks with secure top flaps (by Keen, Osprey, Timbuktu, etc.) was not proportioned for a male cyclist (i.e. wider on the top than the bottom). It is slender enough for my small frame, and doesn't feel heavy even when I load it up. It has a quick release buckle (male) for attaching to B&R luggage, but also a sleeve so it can slip over the handle of rolling luggage. As noted by another reviewer, it stands up by itself. It looks business-like enough to pass for office use. What's missing? 1) I'm a NYer: it should come in black. 2) For such a well designed bag, it's puzzling that they left off a key leash.

Very well constructed. Flat bottom, stands on its own. Comfortable straps, feels light when carrying heavy loads. Front pocket could use a wider gusset, but very happy with purchase.
