Brooks Ariel -
A standout among control running shoes, the Brooks Ariel running shoe, like its big brother, the Brooks Beast for men, boasts a growing number of fiercely loyal fans who swear by its performance. Sporting a breathable Element Mesh™ upper, this women's running shoe combines maximum support and long-lasting comfort built upon a reliable, motion-control platform. The full-length Caterpillar Crash Pad delivers flexibility; a midsole stability web reinforces the foam layers without adding weight; and full-length Brooks DNA protects the foot while providing a customized ride with optimal cushioning. Eco-friendly BioMoGo lends additional support, while the Extended Progressive Diagonal Rollbar (PDRB) creates smooth transitions and contributes to the superior pronation control this shoe is known for. Providing premium wet-dry traction, the Brooks Ariel athletic shoe is finished with an outsole that pairs HPR Plus and HPR Green compounds for abrasion-resistant performance and environmentally friendly composition.

  • Outsoles on the Brooks Ariel shoes are constructed out of a mix of rubber compounds to maximize longevity; compound also offers excellent traction in wet and dry conditions
  • Polyester and nylon air-mesh linings provide great moisture management to keep feet comfortable on the run; internal support saddle helps wrap and hold feet in place
  • Lightweight and flexible polyester and nylon mesh uppers are abrasion resistant and breathable, and dry quickly; overlays provide structure and support

  • Forefoot MC-Pod configuration balances midsole and outsole components to set feet in an efficient, balanced position, maximizing motion control and flexibility
  • Flex grooves enhance midsole flexibility for an effortless, efficient ride that maintains cushioning; midsole density has been tuned to optimize cushioning per gender
  • Midsoles feature BioMoGo polymer alloy foam, which provides cushioning, energy return and reduced foot fatigue; nontoxic additive helps midsoles break down in landfills

  • Outsoles also feature a special decoupled crash pad design that smooths out the landing zone throughout the heel strike

Support and Cushioning:

  • Midfoot thermoplastic urethane arch shanks control torsional flex at midfoot for control and support
  • Cushioning pods use high viscosity liquid to react instantly to each step, dispersing impact and customizing the cushioning for different runners and running styles
  • Insole boards use a foam polymer alloy formulated to resist compression and rebound more quickly than standard EVA, offering lasting, efficient cushioning and flexibility

  • Extended PDRB™ (Progressive Diagonal Roll Bar) triple-density medial posts work to control excessive pronation and balance transitions from midfoot to toe-off

Brooks Ariel Reviews:

I have plantar fasciitis in both feet and was told by my physical therapist that I needed to look into purchasing a pair of Brooks shoes in order to get my feet back to normal. As I had been wearing orthotics for over five years (with no help), I thought I would give your product a try. I went onto your website, watched the videos, was very impressed with the stability made into these shoes and I bought my first pair, the Brooks Ariel. I absolutely love them! I have never had a pair of shoes that I could wear all day and not have to take off immediately upon entering my home. I can wear my shoes all day long and not have to take them off until I get ready for bed! That sounds funny, but with the pain of plantar fasciitis, and not having the proper shoe for so long, this is a great accomplishment for me. These shoes are great, comfortable, and smart-looking. I have had orthotics and ugly shoes that had to be worn with them for too many years. Now I feel freedom to wear a pretty shoe and still have shoes that are healing my feet at the same time. Keep up the good work, I tell everybody with foot problems about your shoes, I even have my husband wearing your shoes now and that was a great accomplishment as he had his own type of shoe that he wore all the time, but now he is wearing Brooks and loving them. He cannot believe the experience and he has no foot problems. I could go on and on, but I will cut it off here. Thank you and keep those shoes coming.

Have been wearing the Ariel for years and this new one fits a bit differently - apparently they have re-designed the front toe area to be a little longer/wider. Great if you need the extra toe room, but I went back and forth with sizes (thanks Zappos for the easy returns/exchanges!). My usual size 12 felt extra big, and I exchanged it for an 11 but that was too small. So I re-ordered the 12. They are okay but the heel area comes up a bit higher than it did in the older model, and it pulls my short running socks down inside the shoe - annoying! But love the shoe so I just bought new socks. Bottom line - still a sturdy shoe with excellent stability and arch support, but new styling results in a tad different fit. Worth a try!

These are the most comfortable running shoes I have ever worn. I have been going to the gym & after getting tired of my feet hurting, in addition to the blisters; I got measured. Found out I needed a EE; tried the New Balence 1st & took them back for these Brooks...with no regret...I wear them all the time & have not had any problems. Workouts are cushy & smooth now. My feet feel so good & Zappos even has EE dress shoes. Happy feet! Love this site!

These shoes are great. I hesitated to buy a running shoe for walking only. I'm glad I reconsidered. I have bad knees, wide, bunioned feet and I'm heavy. But I'm trying to change that and get moving. These are great for walking. They're sturdy and supportive and no pain after long walks. Highly recommend!

Great shoes. Good arch support helps with knee pain. My physical therapist recommended these, and they are fantastic.
