Buck Ron Hood Hoodlum Survival Knife Reviews:

Reviews:

Great Knife.

The late Ron Hood knew what works in the field. A big knife makes camp and survival chores much easier. This knife is light enough to carry all day. The 10" blade of 5160 steel can chop and slash brush, but is not too unwieldy for more precise tasks, like notching and fuzz sticks. The acute point makes a formidable weapon, and is useful for drilling. The large choil allows you to choke up on the blade for small jobs. I tested the Hoodlum along side another heavier well know survival chopper. The Hoodlum chopped nearly as well at much lower weight. My only disappointment with the knife is the sheath. It fits too loosely for my tastes. The liner is not removable, so I could not heat it up to make it grip the blade. I have a custom sheath on order for the big Buck. This knife deserves it.

The only survival knife you will ever need

The late Ron Hood really out did himself on this knife. This knife arrived SHARP. I beat on it and it remained sharp. No chipping at the blade edge. Its weight makes it perfect for backpacking or camping. Buck knows how to temper the steel used in this knife. Its not the best chopper but it will whack its way through. You won't be disappointed.
