Excellent product

I have several of these - they're among my favorite gear. They are perfect for keeping my hair out of my face during workouts of all kinds, and are the best bike helmet liner I've found. They block sun and I never get sunburns on my ears or the part in my hair when I wear them. The unfinished edges are deliberate on the part of the manufacturer - they keep the Buff from having lumps and bumps that rub and hurt. I have used full sized Buffs for years, but as a helmet liner or headband for working out, these half sized ones are much, much better. Sometimes you need the extra fabric, but the full sized ones are too bulky as a helmet liner, and too warm in summer for a headband since you have to either fold them up or scrunch them. I've never had a problem with them stretching out, fraying or falling off. If they move you just put them back - no headband will always stay put. Washing is a breeze. They seem to shed dirt. I just rinse them out in the sink and they dry super fast. They never retain stains or odor.

Versatile buff

This is the second of this half buffs I've purchased. Bought the first one 8 months ago for the purpose of keeping my balding from getting streaks of sunburn thru the slots in my cycle helmet. Found it was just the right size to slide on and brush back on top to cover the top of my head. No apparent seams adding pressure points while being worn. Several months later I purchased a second so I could always find one of them.
I've also discovered this is just right for pulling over my ears to keep the wind chill down ( and avoid earaches) now that the weather has cooled some. I've been out a couple hours at a time with temps in the upper thirties, and up, and been quite comfortable while running errands. Temps above forty and two hour rides are also fine. For colder climates than Seattle this probably is too light weight.
I've tried a couple of the "skull cap" type liners and didn't like the pressure points created by their seams.
ps: use cold water cleaner ( like woolite) and hand wash.

I have 2 now and absolutely love them. I have short hair, and when I'm hiking, I like my hair pulled back. These buffs hold securely without being too loose.
I prefer the half Buffs, because they work well on hot days as head and sweat bands and cool days as a neck warmer. The full Buffs provide too much coverage for me.
I had also purchased a cotton Prana headband, which I ended up only wearing a few hours on a 10-day trek. As I should've expected, it was soaked in sweat and took too long to dry. It was so uncomfortable. I immediately switched back to a Buff.
Plus, they are easy to wash up at campsites and dry quickly.

perfect size

if you love the buff- or don't like the buff because it's too long-either way you will probably like the half buff. Just like it says- half the size of a normal buff so if you like to use it as a headband or around the wrist- just need a little less fabric it works really nice. I keep it my purse because I use it almost everyday for random uses like a barrier between me and my seat beat on my shoulder, keeps my bangs back perfectly also covers my ears when the wind is blowing just a little too hard for me on slightly colder hikes.

These are going to be taller than what you see in the main image, they have them folded up like a headband, make sure to check out the flat picture in the detail view down below the main image.
They measure about 7.5 inches tall. Super light material, lots of ways to fold it and wear it, really versatile and comfortable. If you wanted a skinnier headband style check out item #BUF0013.

Love It!

Have several. Great way to keep hair back without having to constantly retie. Can't ever get a bandana to stay on head all day unless I tie too tight to begin with - 1/2 buff solves the problem. Bought matching one for my niece when we ran 5K together - she now wants another to match her soccer uniform.

This thing is amazing! Have used for just about everything and haven't had any complaints. Even did great on a 10 degree run. I used it as a neck and face cover and it kept everything warm without creating to much of a breathing restriction.
This is a really good all around buy!!! LOVE IT :)

I like this thing a lot. I have used it more than the full buff. I run hot and really just need something to cut the cold wind a bit. Not as many crazy options with this one but for a head band or low neck gaiter this is the stuff!!!

I now have four of these things and I'm going to get more. The CO flag version is awesome and I constantly get comments on it (wear it running in Denver and hiking/camping in the mountains). I use the half size more than the full size.

I LOVE the Half Buffs! They are so useful! I use mine for walking, running, Zumba, riding. Most of the year I only need the thin Coolmax. However, I have another Half Buff plus an assortment of other Buffs for all weather conditions .I LOVE BUFFS!

Negative Reviews:

middling to sloppy

Wore this as a headband during a couple of training runs and while doing regular training at the gym. The material, while breathable, had some serious styling and construction issues. The fact that it had unfinished edges made the buff look cheap, as if someone just grabbed a pair of scissors and cut off every 5 inches of fabric bolt. This somewhat lame construction - and perhaps the content of the fabric and lack of any spandex or similar stretchy material - contributed to the buff slipping off my head every once in a while or developing a weird "triangle" shape that was not attractive.
