Burley ski kit works!

Rating:****
Burley ski kit is very similar to the Chariot ski kit except it uses quick-release lever ski attachments instead of the Chariot's push-button attachment. Burley's quick-release needed adjustment to fit & stay in the axle housing--once set, no problems. Liked the telescoping poles & hipbelt was comfy. Very easy to pull, best used on groomed trail or track. Both Burley & Chariots kits are expensive, but if you have the chassis already it does open you up to winter fun!

Needs refinement to compete with Chariot

OK--first things first--I have not used the product out in the snow, but did have a chance to compare both Burley & Chariot XC Ski Kits in an [...]. Chariot has had their kit available for 6-7 years, the Burley is new for '07. Both use similar equipment--trailer mounted via a quick release on a aluminum arm bolted to each ski & with harness aluminum poles attached to a hipbelt. Concerns with Burley's kit--round harness poles had too much play in their square attachments on the trailer creating a lot of 'slop' when pulling the trailer--Chariot's was firmer. The other issue was that when I attached the hipbelt to my waist, the trailer would droop forward & not lay level no matter what length the harness poles were set at--real issue for people of short stature such as myself. The Chariot, even though it sits a bit higher than the Burley, did not have that issue. I prefer the Chariot over the Burley. ***If you go with the Burley, remember it only works with '07 Burley trailers or newer!

Excitedly rushed to store when I heard Burley was making a Ski Kit, bought first one in stock. Yet beforehand, I called Burley for reassurance that I had the right year to fit it (wrong!). Opened up at home, and said "this is it? for this price?" Nice looking skiis, unsure if they need the camber. Hardware looked kinda homebrewed. Upon assembly, noticed that I wasn't provided the extra D-shaped pin for pole attachments to trailer (make sure you have two on your trailer, or they put an extra in the box!!!). Then noticed I didn't have the right year after all. Now I must return it, bummer. Kind of glad though, looks like I can homebrew something similar for a fraction of the price. But if you have GUESSED the right year of your trailer, and you have the expendable cash, I'd say go for it.
