Burris Handgun Riflescope -
This scope is the choice among most serious handgunners. Burris pioneered handgun scopes. The company built the first variable, and the first scopes with target knobs and adjustable parallax. These scopes are designed to take a pounding. Since handguns don't have your shoulder to absorb shock, a lot of recoil plows straight into the handgun and the scope. PL models feature Posi-Lock construction for heavy-recoiling handguns. Some models are available in the proven Ballistic Plex reticle, which is calibrated perfectly for short magnum cartridges.
Available: Matte or Silver finish.

Features:

  • Adjustable parallax
  • Long eye relief
  • Forever warranty

Burris 3-12 x32

I have been looking for a high magnification pistol scope that would be at least 3-9 x 32 that would withstand the high recoil from a .454 or larger caliber. There are four companies that, in my opinion, manufacture high quality recoil proof hand gun scopes and stand by their warranty. A major issue in a purchase is the quality of service one will receive from the company when there is a defect or a problem with the product. I previously have destroyed or damaged three recoil-proof scopes from recoil; one was a Burris. Burris questioned me on how I did it, asked for suggestions and promptly sent me a new 2.5-7 x 28 scope. When the time came to find a long distance hand gun scope to mount on a Thompson Encore on a 16.5 inch barrel in .30-06, Burris is the only company to my knowledge that manufactures a 3-12 x 32. The wonderful people in the Cabela's special order department placed my order and insured that I received it in time to practice before the hunt. I was amazed to see the improvement in the clarity of the glass over my older 2.5-7 scope. The picture is sharp and bright at full magnification. I can feel comfortable with the high magnification and lots of practice in taking a shot off a rest at 350 yards. If I could make changes to this scope, I would like to see a variable lighted ballistic plex recticle and an increase in the size of the objective to 40 mm. We do have the technology today to make a 3-18 pistol scope.

I put this scope on a .500 s&w or as i call it the man cannon i have put about 100 rounds through the gun and the scope has preformed great i was worried because of the shock of the gun with it holding up it has done great!!!!

Failed

After 120 rounds through my S&W 460 (8 3/4") the reticle shifted about 15 degrees to the right on shot 121. Big disapointment. Wish I had read more reviews on Burris handgun scopes. It seems their quality is not what it used to be. Back to Leupold. I will find some use for this 1.5 X 4 power scope. Probably on a .22. Burris needs to buy back these scopes that fail on magnum handguns. I would not have purchased if Burris had not indicated that this product could handle the recoil. Too many failures reported for Burris not to address this issue.

Burris sitting on my Model 500 S&W

I have to take this back to Cabelas's, after shooting 40 rounds through 500 Smith & Wesson , I have couple of paint chips on one of the inner lens.
