Some say the best turns are the ones you earn…maybe, maybe not. Either way the Burton AK 23L Pack Backpack offers options when it comes to hauling gear uphill, including a NEW low-profile Sled-Ready Horizontal Board Carry as well as a super secure vertical board carry for when hiking. External probe storage and convenient shovel pocket keep tools at the ready, because if trouble strikes, every second counts.
The Burton AK 23L Backpack carries your snowboard to those hard-to-reach places. The considerable capacity holds lunch and extra layers, and Burton included external pockets for your poles and shovel. Inside the AK pack, you'll find a fleece-lined goggle pocket and a sleeve for your hydration bladder. This daypack'ss ergonomic shoulder pads and back-panel won't hinder your movements when you're spinning off a cornice or going to town on a fallen tree. Compression straps reduce the bulk of the backpack so it rests close to your body and won't wobble around while you ride. - Fall 2008.

Disappointed Burton lover and backpack connoisseur | |

| First off, allow me to say what a Burton fan I am, been riding them for 15 years and no plans to stop anytime soon. Also worth mentioning is I practically collect backpacks. Have a ton of them. One for any occasion. That being said, they've put out a too minimalistic product for too high of a price. I guess I could have paid more attention to its options pre-purchase, but was almost immediately let down when it arrived at the door step. As I told a friend a few months ago while shopping for a hiking backpack "I'm a wh*re for pockets." So where are they? There's no beverage holder. No external quick access pockets. Just one pocket inside that I'm not entirely convinced could fit anything more than goggles, if that. Let's talk strappage (yeah I made a word up, sue me). The shoulder straps are too thin, and while they'd work fine with a jacket on padding your shoulders, they'd be somewhat uncomfortable if used as a regular backpack when wearing a T-shirt. Furthermore, the waist strap is nothing to write home about and has no where to tuck it in. So here's a lesson to learn: if you're going to make it a permanently exterior waist pack, then throw a quick pocket on it... just something that can hold a camera or Clif bar. Oh yeah, and it says something about "contoured back". pff. Flat as a board. I'll be returning this for a Dakine asap. | |
