Whether you’re riding the resorts in heinous conditions or gearing up for a high-altitude backcountry descent, the Burton Men’s AK 3L Hover Mitten gives you the waterproof protection you need thanks to Gore-Tex shell fabric. The shell’s sonic-welded seams eliminate the need for stitching and thread, which cuts weight and adds weather protection. A removable, down-insulated liner mitt wicks moisture, and a removable four-way stretch Dryride liner gives you dexterity for impromptu booter-building sessions. Pre-curved fingers and a Rodeo AK leather palm on the shell ensure you can grab your tail and tweak like a flying contortionist from two-foot kickers to massive cliff bands. - Fall 2008.

Worn and tested in Earth's most demanding conditions by professional mountain guides and team riders Terje Haakonsen, Jeremy Jones, and Jussi Oksanen, The Burton 3l Hover Pants feature the Guaranteed To Keep You Dry™ performance of a GORE-TEX® 3-layer shell with minimized GORE-SEAM® Tiny Tape.Ballistic paneling strengthens critical zones, Crossflow venting™ keeps you cool and calm, and RiRi AQUAzips ice the cake with the ultimate in wind and water-resistant zipper technology.
Burton AK 3L Hover Pant: The final word in high-performance snowboarding outerwear. The AK Hover Pant features 3 layer Gore Tex construction, with a soft outer fabric and fleece-like inner material that sandwich a waterproof/breathable fabric in the middle. Riri AQUAzip™ water-resistant zippers and zip-in compatibility with all Burton AK jackets keep the snow from sneaking through the chinks in your water armor. If you get too warm, Crossflow venting provides more airflow than you could ever wish for.
The final word in sideways standing high performance.

Good and Not as good | |

I purchased the 2009 model of the AK mitt to replace my hardy 1997 Burton Tri-Lite Mitt which preceeded it. Those great mitts lasted 12 seasons, and are still plenty wearable, but the Fleece Liner had matted down to the point where hand warmers were needed in any kind of cold weather. These Mitts are still the best ones I can find for riding(not including and Extreme Hiking Mitts which i didnt search for) but the new mitts have a few issues: 1. I wear an XL mitt and the newer model is SUBSTANTIALLY SMALLER than the older model. My thumb has a tight squeeze getting in, though when i put the new liner in the old shell, it is a great fit. Burton will not sell the liner alone, so i had to by the new mitt, which is a shame since a replacement insert would have been fine, and much less $$ 2. The new insert, while much improved and down filled on the back, is lacking a pouch for a hand warmer (I can only assume that Burton feels one will never be needed, but not a good call) 3. The new shell is 1 1/2 inches shorter(in the Gauntlet Portion) then the older model. If you are like me and like gauntlet mitts, then the missing 1 1/2 inches means that they are much harder, and take a bit longer, the get on and make sure your jacked sleeve is fitted in place so that snow/wind do not penetrate. I personally like the longer shell much more. 4. The new palm is now leather. When i bought my last ones i wondered why i paid $120 for mittens that were not leather...well they lasted 12 years and now i am not sure why they would use leather that will wear down with use (though for the price i guess most people will feel how i did back in 1997) anyway, still a great mitt, but NOT for people with big hands, I am hoping the fancy leather will stretch out!

Great Glove | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I couldn't find any reviews on this glove so I am gonna have to write one. My hands get cold very easy but these gloves kept my hands warm and toasty my whole snowboarding trip. My hands got so hot one day i removed the down liners and despite it being in the 40's my hands stayed comfortable. These are great gloves if your debating these or the oven mitt remember the oven mitt's liner is not removable which may limit there use to very cold days. Great all around glove at an awesome price at dogfunk.

Great gloves to keep a cast warm
| Rating: | ![]() |
I called these guys on a Friday afternoon to see what they had that would fit over a cast so that I could go skiing on that Sunday. They told me these would be perfect and that they could have them to me by Saturday. Well, they held true to their word and I had very warm hands for my ski trip. Great gloves and awesome customer service. Thank you from someone that will be buying all of my gear from you.

Great Mitten! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
This is the first pair of mittens that I have worn that has allowed me to ski throughout the day and not whine about my fingers being cold. And, I didn't even have the liners on! Great mitten if you have chronic cold fingers, worth the $$!

bomber! | |

Best gloves I have ever owned. Shell mitt is great for spring days, or put in the liners to stay toasty. Fits wrist guards with ease. Liner gloves are good quality, liner mitts are toasty.

Sizing is a joke | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I ordered these mittens for skiing when it is REALLY cold out. The specifications for these mittens said all of the right things for a very warm and waterproof mitten. When they arrived, I tried them on and to my dismay they were no where near the correct size. I wear a mens' large size and I could barely squeeze my hands into the mens' large size mitten that I had ordered. When I did manage to get my hand into the mitten, my hand was so bound up that I could not get my other hand into the remaining mitten. I immediately called Backcountry to try to reserve another pair of mittens in mens' extra large. Of course there were none to be had. Oh well, the $69.00 sale price was wonderful, if only the mittens had fit. Moral of the story, order at least one size larger than you think you wear. Better yet, order the size you normally wear and order the next size larger, just to be certain that you have the correct size. Backcountry is very accommodating about returns.

Warm Glove, Not Durable
| Rating: | ![]() |
I have an older model of these gloves, I only used them a few times on really cold days, however they ripped quite easily and are not at all durable Then again I rip through gloves like its my job so be warned. However I have had good luck in the past with Burton rider services, so if you rip your gloves, they may replace them.

Worst Glove Ever | |

These gloves started falling apart on the first day. The palm grips disintegrated, and the seams came loose. The worst part - Burton wouldn't take them back!

Good mitten but some issues and NOT as described
| Rating: | ![]() |
It is warm and well made. Really nice one handed toggles for cinching down the powder cuffs and for the wrist strap (so you don't loose it when you take it off). Problem: Size--I'm usually a M or L. The L fit ok, but was too small when wearing the thin liner glove, in addition to the insulated mitt and shell, so I went with XL. It's too roomy with just the shell, or even just the shell and insulated mitt, but better that than tight when all three (liner glove, insulated mitt, and shell). Next problem: the mitt is not down, it is synthetic. I might return them. $100 for a non-down mitten is ridiculous. On the otherhand, mittens always seem to get wet, so maybe you don't want down. But, the description clearly says down, and is wrong.

Size it UP | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I don't know who sized Burton gloves and mittens this year but they need to be fired. Go at least a size up if you want them to fit without ripping the inner liners. If the size were right I would give it 4 stars. I wish the gauntlet would be longer to keep the pow out.
