Burton Custom X -

Burton Custom X Snowboard - Men's:  The Custom X is about as aggressive as a board gets.  This is the need-to-have board for the wanna-be-pro.  This is a hard charging board, cambered to shred.  The confidence is in the tech, which includes a snappy yet stable Squeezebox-powered core, competition-grade base, and NEW 45° Carbon Highlights Hi-Voltage—a fiberglass formula that reduces weight and increases energy.

Diecut Base Color Combinations May Vary.
Tram Package.
Each year we push our ultra high-end technologies further in search of unmatched weight-savings, strength, and shredability.
The Channel.
The Channel offers the quickest, easiest way to mount your bindings with the most stance options possible. Take control of your stance and your board like never before, micro-adjust your width and angles with ALL major binding formats including EST®, Re:Flex™, and Disc. M6 hardware means compatibility with all major binding companies, making it a choice for any rider.
Camber.
An advocate of powerful turns and poppy precision, camber speaks to the core values of board design. Offering a snappy suspension, camber distributes weight evenly over the entire length of the board allowing for smooth, continuous edge control from tip to tail.
Directional Shape.
The classic, most versatile snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while still giving you plenty of float, flow, and control to rip any terrain or condition.
Twin Flex.
The flex is perfectly symmetrical from tip to tail for a balanced ride that’s equally versatile regular or switch.
Dragonfly™ Core.
Over 500 independent laminations, each individually oriented within the core, result in superior weight-savings, strength, and energized response. Featured on the Custom X™, X8CH, and Fortress™.
Multizone EGD™
In four separate zones, the wood grain is perpendicular to the core adjacent to The Channel—the area from which a rider’s power emanates—for ultimate strength and edge control.
Lightning Bolts Hi-Voltage.
Radiating outward from beneath your feet, these energy transfer strands allow us to make the board more responsive without making it stiff. The Hi-Voltage version features energy transfer strands woven into the fiberglass both above and below the board’s core for dual-drive power and response.
Sintered WFO Base.
Infusing a specially formulated wax deep into the pores of this extra-absorbent, high-density sintered material results in an ultra-durable base that stays Wide F!#@ing Open all season in any condition.
Squeezebox.
Improves performance through the balance of thicker, more powerful core sections with thinner, more flexible sections. Rider energy is transferred outward from where it originates beneath the feet, energizing the tip and tail while making the board more stable and easily manipulated.
Stainless Frostbite Edges.
Get superior defense against rust and corrosion for edges that remain razor-sharp.
Pro-Tip™
A tapered tip and tail thickness reduces swing weight for easier mobility.
Infinite Ride™
This Burton-exclusive technology allows us to maximize pop and strength by overbuilding the board, then putting it in a machine that breaks in the board for you. Whether you choose to ride Springloaded, Rocker, or Camber, rest assured that with Infinite Ride™ your board will maintain its flex, pop, and feel from the first day forward, season after season.

As much as times change, some things thankfully stay the same. Like the Burton Custom X Snowboard, for example. It's the longstanding go-to for Burton's team riders who need maximum control on exposed lines and massive jumps, thanks to its stiff flex and powerful cambered shape. Naturally, it gets the best of Burton's tech to bring it up to modern standards, but when you've got a classic like this in your lineup, there's no reason to mess with the formula.

Camber ain't dead, and the Custom X is proof. The full length camber shape translates into locked-in Euro-carves and stomped landings on the biggest jumps on the planet. That edge hold gets a boost from Frostbite edges, which places bumps in the sidecut underneath your feet, to give you even more grip. It has 25mm of stance setback, for plenty of directional stability, but the twin flex ensures solid switch landings and takeoffs.

The ultra-light Dragonfly core keeps the overall weight down to help with technical tricks. The weight is further reduced through Pro-Tip construction in the tip and tail, which knock the swing weight down for faster spins. The Squeezebox profile is thinner underneath the binding for unrestricted board feel and uninterrupted flex, and the Highlights High Voltage carbon stringers radiate out from the binding to give you more response without making the deck unnecessarily stiff. Round it out with a super-fast, wax absorbent WFO sintered base, and you're out of excuses for coming up short on the biggest jumps in your local park.

The Burton Custom X Snowboard is built for riding fast. Its traditional camber gives you grip on your edges, and carbon stringers provide fast response so you can get from edge to edge quicker. The DragonFly Core is super lightweight, giving you that agile feeling. Frostbite edges grab onto hardpack, so you won't slide out when you're looking for a perfect carve. As one of Burton's most aggressive boards, the Custom X requires the speed and durability that only a WFO Sintered Base can provide.

2014 Burton Custom X Snowboard Review

Hey, I'm Rob. Just got off the Burton Custom X, give this board 5 out of 5 stars. Ton of fun, super fast, if you like to go fast, it's going to go anywhere for you. It's going to hold an edge super well, we're in a little harder pack conditions today, the edge hold on the hard pack is great. Real snow obviously, it's going to be great too, deeper snow. Any kind of turn that you want, if you're a real hard charger, making real aggressive, tight turns, it's going to handle that super well for you, but also going to do a real nice, long, easy turn for you too. Still maneuverable enough at lower speeds. Really kind of a go anywhere, do anything board for that guy that's going to go all over the mountain.

2014 Burton Custom X Snowboard Review

Hi, I'm Steve and I'm here with the Burton Custom X. Real burly board, definitely for your advanced or expert rider. Real stiff, but when you take it up to speed, it holds really nicely, but you've got to be pretty technically proficient rider to actually enjoy this board. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
Steve S. at Skis.com on 09/09/2013

Negative Reviews:

Just purchased my second Custom X after the 2012 model cracked in half right between the bindings after about ten days of riding on the eat coast. Purchased the 13-14 model, it also cracked just forward of the front binding after a very mild hit from a rock under the snow. Also cracked in the nose through the topsheet after some light tree riding early season. These boards cannot take daly abuse although very light they are extremely fragile, for any normal rider trying to hit the whole mountain for years to come this board will not last. Its good as a decoration for squids who will put it on their wall and say they own it. DO NOT BUY. Come on Burton pull your act together.
