I just picked up some of the carpet to put on my trailer. After 5 long hard years of use my old carpet just gave up the ghost. I used the "same" CE Smith carpet last time, but this stuff is much more supple. I had trouble last time with the "old" carpet being too stiff and harder to install. It looks like they just got rid of the double loop weave, which made it easier to install AND makes it a bit slicker (I think).
Product quality was as advertised. The dimensions were accurate in width and a few inches longer than advertised. I installed the carpet on new presure treated 2 x 6 x 10's with a manual staple gun. Precut carpet makes the job easy. I wanted blue but it was not availble - grey carpet looks fine on a black trailer. This product looks like it will last many seasons.
This is not the same as the old C. E. Smith bunk carpet that West Marine sold a few years ago. This is just the same old poly-fuzz junk like sells. Will probably rot off in a year or two of Florida heat. Definitely not worth the high price.
The precut rolls are convenient. The 18"x18' size covered doubled up, pressure treated, 2x6's; providing full overlapping coverage. Bunks are 10' long, so I had to order two rolls. I'm not yet convinced this product is superior to any standard, high-density indoor/outdoor carpet. At the end of the day, the trailer is a means to an end, and this product cost more than I really wanted to spend on something that will wear out in a season or two. However, it was nice not to have to trim the material lengthwise.
