Cabela's Alaska Hunter Boots By Meindl -
Designed to Take on the Toughest Mountain Conditions.
We worked with Meindl to design the Alaska Hunter to handle the absolute toughest mountainous conditions. Maximum support is needed in steep, rocky terrain, so they’re built with a super-stiff insole for stability and extreme torsional rigidity. A DIGAfix® lacing system creates a perfect, pressure- free fit around the instep and heel to eliminate blister-causing slippage. And the Vibram® multi- grip outsole offers non-slip traction on rock walls, scree fields and most any ground you’re likely to encounter. A rubber rand completely encircles the upper for maximum abrasion protection. Waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX® booties combine with a moisture-wicking lining to keep feet dry in any condition. And a padded collar and fully gusseted tongue eliminate pinching and binding. An air active footbed guards against ankle- and knee-jarring shocks. The 10" Hunter has 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation for enhanced cold-weather performance. These are the ultimate Alpine boots. Made in Germany.
Height: 10".
Average weight: 4.2 lbs./pair.
Men’s sizes: 8-13 D and EE widths. Half sizes to 12.

Fantastic Boots

Simply amazing boots. I've spent a lot of time with high dollar competitors and bled for it. I've spent months breaking their boots in and suffered the whole time. I am sure I was breaking my feet into the boots rather than breaking the boots in for my feet. With these Alaska Hunter boots by Meindl I put them on, wriggled my toes a bit and sighed with joy. Wow. I hunt in alpine regions with very steep terrain, my ankles need support and I must have traction. I never worry with these boots. They allow me to walk across slopes for hours where this same activity would cause me to limp for days after with other manufacturers footwear. It is so nice to come in after a full day afield and suddenly realize that I did not once think about my feet. These are my second pair of Meindl boots. The first were the old style hikers that lasted me 16 years. If I get a quarter of that from these I'll be happy. They do what boots are supposed to do. Get you to where you need to be and back safely and comfortably. I saw some reviewers who complained of these boots not being water-proof. Get some Obenauf's leather sealant and apply it before taking them out (as recommended by the manufacturer). I did and I can stand in the river, walk through the wet grasses and have never got a damp sock. I must say, get a pair of the perfect hiker footbeds for these. That is important. You may need to get the boot about a half size larger or a wide version since the perfect hiker footbed is rather thick but they are really needed to get the most from this product.

great boots

I'm on my second pair (first pair is still being used by my 19 yr old son) of these boots , brake in was minimal with no blisters. They have a fairly stiff sole that I need for a previoslly broken toe , only boot I've been able to hunt all day in with no pain.I had the first pair (which replaced a pair of Denali hunters I gave my brother) for about 7 years.Well built & well worth the price. I keep them treated with snoseal & wear warm socks in cold weather and the only drawback I've found is your feet will get cold in well below freezing temps.

Great Boots

The wife gave me these as an early Christmas present the day before my elk hunt. DIY New Mexico elk hunt backpacking in some steep rocky terrain. I was a little concerned about the lack of break-in until I put them on for the first time. Very comfortable, stiff and supportive in the right spots. Great traction and fit. The only things not sore by the end of the hunt were my feet.

Good boot, bad fit

I bought these boots for a sheep hunt. They are very well made and I would have kept them except the fit was not perfect. I have a long narrow foot and hoped these would work. I returned them and was refunded with no complaints. I am impressed with the quality, just did not fit.
