Great gear

I have the Alaskan guide dry plus jacket and matching pants. It is great stuff. It is not heavy but it is pretty warm. It should be noted this gear is NOT for really extreme cold weather. I hunted in it in Connecticut in December and January. You will need to layer it. I wore a berber fleece jacket under the jacket and Under Armour 5.0 Cold gear leggings under the pants when stand hunting and I was nice and toasty. If you are a stalk hunter then this gear is for you. I would stalk hunt in this in any rainy, snowey or cold conditions with minimal layering. It is a little noisy to be bow hunting in it but most water proof gear is.

Blizzard proof!

Wore the jacket and pants on a late season Colorado elk hunt at 10,000 ft. altitude with blowing snow (25-45 mph gusts), and I was warm and dry. I have always opted for Cabela's gear with Goretex, so I was pleased to find the Dry-Plus just as breathable and waterproof. Pockets and zippers are well placed and functional. Only suggestion is to make the wrist openings on the Jacket larger for easier on/off over other clothing.

Not what I thought it would be.

After a long complicated try due to promotion issues etc I ordered this for cold-weather hunts. Due to ordering issues Cabelas as always tried to make the situation better by free over night service to me and they did, that's why we all shop and depend on Cabelas. I ordered a 2X, it fit well, but thru shoulders and arms it was too tight. Being its the weight & feel of a wind breaker it should have been over sized so you could layer up beneath it. It looked and seemed well made, but its hardly a "cold-weather" coat. I am returning it and absolutely will purchase something else from them due to their commitment to products and customers alike. A special thanks to Bev (I believe that's her name) for her hard work and patients in helping me resolve the ordering issues.
