Cabela's Alaskan Guide Series Zipper Knife By Buck Knives -
With blades crafted of S30V steel, the Zipper boasts a 4-1/8" partially serrated guthook blade with a rubberized handle and brushed brass butt and guard. Developed by Crucible Steel, S30V is made up of metallic powders fused together under intense pressure and heat. It is tempered under extremely high temperatures then cooled in a cryogenic freezer. The resulting metal delivers a fine combination of edge retention (45% greater than 420HC), flexibility and hardness (59-61 Rockwell) while remaining easy to sharpen with conventional stones. This steel also has a high chromium content for oxidation resistance. For even greater corrosion resistance, each knife is treated with a titanium aluminum nitride coating. Our field testing and independent Cutlery Allied Trade Research Association tests prove these knives outperform those crafted with other blade metals. It also comes with a Cordura® nylon sheath. Made in USA.
Overall length: 8-1/2".
Weight: 6.6 oz.

solid, durable, and sharp

I dont normally write reviews but this is a knife that is well worth the time. my dad bought me this knife a few years back, i hadn't used it until this dear season but after my sister got her first buck and I used it to skin it, it instantly became the envy of dear camp. haven't sharpened it since and it still has a razor blade for an edge. the nylon sheath guards the blade well, its perfect for throwing in the back of your pack and the gut hook works great.

Alaskan Guide Buck Zipper Knife

I own the Alaskan Guide version and I own the non-Alaskan Guide version of the knife. The AG version does not have the serrated portion of the blade for some reason, but it is ok with me. This knife is balanced in your hand. It maintains an edge. I like the sheath. It will also sharpen nicely. You will be happy with the purchase.

Nice Knife

I have had the non-Cabela's version for 25+ years but liked what I saw online about this knife. Bought it for my 14 year old son. Very nice knife...I'm sure he'll be able to use this for more than 25 years also.

Very good skinning knife.

Wanted a knife which I could use on small and big game, this fit the bill. Good edge, nice grip. Would buy this again (in fact I'm thinking about getting a second as a spare).
