Cabela's Betts 8-Piece Bass Popper Assortment Reviews:

Nice quality and very effective !

I've been fishing these Betts poppers for many years and find the #4 Frugal Frog in natural frog pattern (shown bottom right corner in photo) to be particularly effective for bass and bluegill, at least on the lakes and ponds that I fish here in Washington State. It's fairly durable (not all poppers of this type are), gives off a nice "bloop" sound when correctly fished, and seems to hookup well on the strike. That natural frog pattern passes the close inspection that fish usually give a popper prior to striking it, after they hear it and track it down. I've watched many, many fish come charging up to this thing , then carefully inspect it, then, satisfied it was "legit" prey, take a whack at it. I have varying degrees of success with the other models shown, but I don't seem to attract and hook as many fish with the non-popper types that don't feature the cupped face.....and when it's all said and done, that Frugal Frog gets most of the play from me. I usually fish warmwater species from a fully rigged bass boat with all the electronics ,all the latest and greatest tackle and techniques.... but when the dog days of summer come along, I like to just scale things down a little, grab the pontoon boat , and spend a quiet, relaxing evening after work plunking these poppers on my local pond with the fly rod. It's a really enjoyable and surprisingly effective old-school technique that I think has fallen out of popularity a bit these days as the sport of bass fishing has gotten so elaborate and sophisticated.

Great Bass Popper Set

I am really impressed with the quality of the this fly set. It is exactly what I needed to go after Largemouth Bass with a fly rod. You cannot go wrong with this purchase.

Catches fish!

I tried these back in the summer and caught about 25 in less than 3 hours, and not just bass either. I caught several bream along with the large and smallmouth. Great buy
