Cabela's Bugproof Led Lantern Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I own both the "Bug Proof" and the Coleman HD

The Coleman HD lantern and the Cabelas "Bug Proof" are both excellent products. There is such thing as the best there is when it comes to LED lanterns. It all depends on what you want it for. The Coleman HD lantern produces far more light. But not a "bug proof"colored light .. amber/orange/yellow. (Some researchers say that insects are not attracted to any color of LCD produced light sources.) I've found that to be untrue. So, to me, here's what it comes down too. If you want/need brightness, go for the Coleman HD. (Much less run time than the "BugProof" using the amber light setting.) On that setting it will run for nearly two months! ... But doesn't produce much more light than a night light. If you want emergency lighting in the event of a power outage, choose the Coleman HD and buy extra D-cells to keep on hand. Hope that helped ....

A Must For Every Family

If only the old farmer would have used Cabela’s Bugproof LED Lantern, Chicago would have never burned to the ground after the cow kicked over the farmer’s lantern. One of my strongest childhood memories of camping is the hollow whistling sound and aroma of the gas powered lantern. My children will never know this, because we’ve replaced all of our dated lanterns with this lantern. They are safe, light weight, durable, and operate a long time between battery changes. The one suggestion I offer, it would be great if this lantern had a higher setting proving more lumens, similar to the traditional gas lanterns.

Negative Reviews:

Did not last long

My lantern was purchased 2 years ago and was used 3 times before the dial switch went out. Hard to make good use of a product that won't turn on. I am discouraged by this.
