Good Value

I use the 6'6" size for perchin' on Lake Erie. Match this upwith a braided line, and you'll feel every tap from those yellow guys below even at 60'. After the first season, I bought another with my fishin' buddy doing the same. He snapped his tip (his fault) while I have yet to have a problem. The rod is sensitive folks. It needs to be taken care of like anything else. That doesn't mean to say there are never manufacturing defects. Yes that happens. My second rod's guides aren't lined up perfectly, but...for the price, it works fine. Having gotten them out of the bargain cave, it's worth the gamble. You can't go wrong with the price. And don't forget to set your drag. I pulled in a Fish Ohio sheephead at over 28" with this rod with no problem. Hope this helps your decision. I know I'll buy a third if need be.

Negative Reviews:

Very sensitive rod - fun until it broke

Had a great time hooking bass, perch, bluegill and trout with this rod. It is very sensitive and can throw very light lures (1/24oz) a good distance with 4lb or below test.
As much as I enjoyed the rod, it broke relatively quickly (didn't make a season) and thus is not a product I recommend. The tip is very fine and it is hollow, which is a bad a move imho.
The rod broke is a most unusual way. After fishing, I placed the hook in the hook holder which placed the line under tension (so it had a bend). I put it against a tree and it just snapped. 1/2 inch below the tip the rod broke. Weirdest thing. I don't know if the trout I caught earlier weakened it but I suspect that it was the super small diameter hollow tip. A solid tip would have likely solved that problem... bad design imho. bummer I really enjoyed it. Side note - customer service was cool but it wasn't worth the shipping cost to get a replacement.

Reasonable price, but ...

This rod is reasonably priced and has a very nice, light action. Being an old school kind of guy, I particularly like the cork handle. The problem: the rod lacks durability. I had fouled my line at the tip, and when I bent the rod tip just a bit to get some slack, snap! The rod tip broke off completely. My son-in-law also had one of these rods, and the rod tip broke as he was trying to set the hook on a bass. Truly a bummer. My advice would be to spend a few more bucks and buy a light-action Ugly Stik. They're a tad more expensive but boast a nice light action as well as being pretty tough. They, too, offer the cork grip.

Extremely disappointed in Cabela's lack of quality

This rod is total garbage. I took it out of the shipping tube, flexed it a couple times to see how sensitive it was and it snapped in half. Now I have to eat the return fee. I am extremely disappointed in the "quality" of this product. I will think twice before purchasing a Cabela's rod ever again.
