Cabela's Czn Series Rods -
Our CZN rods are designed and tested specifically for the European nymphing technique referred to as Czech, Polish or French nymphing. These long, lightweight rods provide the line control and feel required for this productive method. The supple tip and stiff butt are ideal for the technique. The tip enhances line control, subtle strikes and protects frail tippets. The butt helps cast weighted flies, and controls big fish. A unique blend of IM6, IM7 and IM8 graphite achieves just the right actions. With the extra length and enhanced actions, these rods also excel for standard indicator nymph fishing and are right at home in the float tube or drift boat. The satin olive finish is aesthetically pleasing, but affords a stealthy presentation. Woven graphite reel seats with aluminum rings. AAA cork grips. Titanium-plated snake guides. SiC stripper guide. Cordura® rod tube. 25-year limited warranty.

Great Czech nymph rod

I bought a 1005-4 Cabela's CZN Rods in March 2012 and since then have truly enjoyed it. It is light weight and performs well in a wide river I typically go to. It might be a bit long for tiny rivers with many trees around, but chances are that a better fit is the shorter and lighter version of this rod. Had an issue on warranty just before a trip to Czech republic this June and had to call Cabela's customer service for the first time. What a wonderful team! They went beyond my expectation and managed to take care of it in a timely manner so that I could fully enjoy my fishing trip. Caught around 100 fish (Brown trout, rainbow, grayling, dace, and whitefish) in a week time. It is the best rod for its value. I'd consider buying a second one in 3 weight if/when offered in mid-flex and shorter.

My all around rod for every freshwater situation!

I have fished this rod almost exclusively for two years now and It is the best all around freshwater fly rod I have ever owned. I have sold multiple Sage rods over the years for multiple situations but this rod has replaced them all. I have just returned from the great North woods of NH having caught everything from fresh silver 20" landlocked Salmon in the Upper Connecticut River on large Grey Wulffs to 4" salmon parr on 20 nymphs. I have caught football sized 18" Rainbows in the Swift River of MA and this rod has handled them all on 6X tippet. I've been broken off a few times but I wasn't prepared for the conditions, but I know this rod could have handled the fish if I'd held it. Great rod.

Broke first day on 13 inch trout

I wanted the CZN to be my euro nymping rod. I bought an 11ft 4wt before a four day fishing trip, and it fished well for a few hours. The extra length really makes a difference when euro nymphing. After about three hours of fishing, it snapped in half on a 13 inch fish. I did notice that the butt section didn't look as big as other euro nymphing rods...and that may be the downfall of the rod. There doesn't seem to be enough taper, which causes the rod to break in the middle. Needs more of a fighting butt. Maybe I just got a defective rod, but I doubt it given the taper.

10 foot, 5 wt czn nymph rod

Liked it for about 1 year, but it snapped in half on a big brown....most likely a fissure in the blank. Cabela's replaced it 100% at no cost. Also, the reel seat epoxy failed at about 6 months, probably from dunking the reel a lot to unfreeze it while winter fishing.....I still like the rod, seems to be my go to rod at the san juan while nymphing.
