Great Guide-Ons

I purchased these guide -ons a few months ago after reading most of the reviews. I wanted something extra heavy duty that wouldn't break after the first year. I am very pleased with the quality and construction of these guide- ons but as others have stated, they do forget to add all of the hardware that is supposed to come with them. I was missing all of the 3/8" lock nuts in my kit. I called cabelas and told them about it and was told I could purchase them locally and I'd be reimbursed for them. I did so and was issued a refund for the amount of the lock nuts the same day.
I have looked at quite a few guide- ons over the last several months and I can say without a doubt that these are the best and heaviest duty that I have found. Well worth the extra 10 minutes it took me to buy the lock nuts. I believe this product will outlast me.

Yes, This will do the trick

I returned the PVC guide poles and purchased this set up instead. Installation was very easy and the materials are heavy duty quality plating & welds. All the materials were included. Instructions with no reading! Great for old people who hate messing with their cheater reading glasses. The guides are fully adjustable making them a perfect fit for odd shaped boats such as my 21' skiff. Should have bought these years ago.

Good buy

Very well constructed, easy to install, very sturdy when installed. Had to go to hardware store to get longer bolts.

Good Guide-On With Issues

First let me say these guide-ons work fine. I use 2 pair of the large with my 22' ocean boat. One pair is fitted behind, and one pair in front of the dual axle on my aluminum I-beam trailer. I originally used one pair but still had a problem keeping the boat straight on windy days or where there is a strong current. The second pair solved the problem. These are easy to install. The second pair was missing some parts, but Cabelas was excellent about replacing everything. The main reason I went with these is my trailer frame is 51/2" high and these fit frames up to 6". They also adjust out and on an angle, so they should fit most boats. See the pic I added to see the fit for my boat. There are 2 issues I have with them. First, they are galvanized, but are NOT hot-dipped. There is no galvanizing inside the square hollow tubes, so they WILL rust from the inside out, especially if used in salt water. I removed the plastic end-caps so they would drain faster, and I'm careful to rinse them with fresh water after use. Even so, I question how long they will last. The other issue is the black rubber rollers will leave marks on your boat. My boat is white so they really show up. The marks are like those left with Vibram-soled shoes on a floor. They will rub out with some elbow grease. These would have been better if the rollers were a non-marking thermoplastic rubber. I rated these 3 stars. If they did not have the issues above, I would rate them 5 stars.
