Cabela's Depth Trac Downrigger Line -
Super-strong, low-stretch braided line won't kink like stainless steel downrigger lines. This exceptionally strong line makes no noise when pulled through the water, so it spooks fewer fish. Tracks better than regular downrigger lines; won't swing back, stays straight under the boat. Allows you to use a lighter downrigger ball to gain the same depth. No crimping necessary when you change balls, just tie on with standard knots. 135-lb. test.
Sizes: 150-ft., 200-ft. and 400-ft. spools.

Lining and Layers:

Cabela's Depth Trac Downrigger Line Reviews:

The knot is critical!

I bought this line for one of my Scottie downriggers as I didn't like the reflection the stainless cable was sending back to my depth finder. It is quieter when going through the water and doesn't come back as far so the depth is more accurate. HOWEVER, I used a simple knot (tied twice) to begin with and one time when I retrieved the weight, the knot slipped open and I lost my weight. I wish that the product came with some instructions on tying a knot that is specific for this type of line. I will be buying another spool of it for my 2nd Scottie electric downrigger, now that I think I found a satisfactory knot on the internet.

do this NOW !!

after using stainlees wire on my downriggers, i switched to braid.....and i immediately saw a performance improvement. the braid cuts through the water with no "singing", and there is no electrical charging of the cables now. anyone that is familiar with downrigger fishing, wil recoginize the benefit of this. then, after a years use, i will cut the first 30 feet off.....and i am as good as new. another you do not need special tools or parts to do a repair when on the lake. if you are a freshwater fisherman.....there is no need for stainless cable !! do yourself a favor and make the switch.

downrigge line

the downrigger line works very well, much better than stainless braided line. no noiise, no kinks and i have lost only one ball in three years due to my fault. i wouldn't use anything else......

Great line

Great line no noise, and tracks fairly close with #6 balls at 65`. Nice to be able to tie on swivels rather than terminator kits and no worry about kinks.
