Two independent stainless steel operating cords lets you hang two tools from the same retractor. It has easy-open clips and extends to 18". Safety pin style attachment connects to vest or chest pack.
Seems to be well constructed for such an inexpensive item. Does not hang up when pulled to maximum extension. Pin is sturdy enough to hold standard clippers, scissors, and other small, light tools.
I value my tools. But yesterday on the Wallowa River, the keeper pin assembly got mashed and came apart, dropping my file and forceps into waist deep water. This on the first day of use. Luckily, I eventually bottom-fished the tools from the river with my wading staff. The retraction tension is weak also. It's cheaper to buy spend more $$ on good equipment. This piece is going in the trash.
Certainly solidly built.of metal, some sort of steel. Empty it weighs 1.5 ounces which is one full ounce heavier than the competition -- but it costs a third the price of the better units. The length of the cable is 16" on one side and 19" on the other. The lighter competitive unit has 22" on both cables. You get what you pay for.
I am returning the double retractor. It does not retract on one side. Cabelas has always been prompt about addressing problems and replacing defective merchandise.
