Not that complicated...

Has strong construction and is well thought out. One look at the picture and how to install becomes pretty obvious. What is not great is the fit of the U bolts on the back pieces. To be 100% sure the step doesn't eventually slip down I split a 2X4 and put it on top of the trailer frame to elevate the step a couple more inches. I am in the process of ordering my 2nd. step.

Negative Reviews:

Designed Halfway - No Directions

Completely agree with the other reviews, no directions and it appears to be designed halfway. Due to running out of threads on the u-bolts due to the size of my Shoreland trailer (Lund boat), I had to go to the hardware store and purchase u-bolts to replace the ones that came with it. Also, I drilled a hole in each one of the support bars and used the hole in the back support bars to attached a bolt. The u-bolt assembly will fall off as there is nothing to stop it on the step side. Don't buy unless you want to do some extra work to install it.

Two man job

First, take two days to figure out how this thing goes on. Then recruit a buddy to help you hold everything in place while you try to make the parts go together without get the idea. Excellent product once installed, but all but impossible to install by yourself. Non-existant directions, a blurry picture, and too complicated, non-intuitive design. It does the job well, but.......might buy it again, but only because I now know how to make it work.

No directions

I just installed this item on my boat and I echo the other review. You need to have at least a 2" wide trailer or the threads run out on the u bolts. I had to figure out how to mount this thing there are holes drilled in the middle of the backing plates which throw you off. You end up not using the holes, rather you straddle the back bracket. This is a poor design, because there ends up being a 1/2" gap between the u bolt and the bracket. I weigh almost 300 pounds ( a biscuit shy) and it held me up, it should work out. I gave it three stars because of the directions or lack of them. We'll see how it holds up.
