Good Wading Jacket

All other reviews are correct. The pockets do fill up with water. It hasn't been a real big issue even though you do have to drain your pockets. Bone Dry. You will not get wet is this jacket. I stood in the middle of the river with the heaviest rain that I have ever seen. Perfectly dry and stops the wind. Great chest pockets for holding most everything you can carry. This jacket saved my life and kept me floating when I was washed downriver into deep water. Love the jacket.

Negative Reviews:

Inadequte for wading!!

This is a terrible wading jacket. At first I thought this was a great jacket because during my first trip out I was in a torrential downpour and I stayed as dry as a bone. For that trip I was only wading up to my knees so it was basically just a rain jacket at that point. My next trip out I was wading belly-deep in a nearby lake/river fly fishing for bass and after exiting the water I couldn't figure out why my jacket felt heavier then it did when I got out of the truck. Well I figured out why when I got in the truck. I took off my jacket, laid it on the back seat and I unzipped my pocket to get my keys and water came gushing out (i keep my door unlocked while fishing in case i lose my keys). So not only was my key fob soaked, but so was my truck seat because both pockets were full of water. I was surprised there was a pocket that low in a wading jacket but it looked like it was a waterproof zipper. It's sold as a wading jacket (I searched for "Wading Jacket" on the site) so as a consumer I would expect that this would have come up if the products are actually tested while waded. If you are just looking for a rain jacket then this will work but it is subpar for a wading jacket.

Not a wading Jacket

I owned the previous model, about the only change I see is it doesn't have the retractable clip which really wasn't very retractable and it always got caught in the zipper while trying to zip it up. When I first received thejacket I thought it was pretty sharp. However...... apparently they don't expect "hard-core" fishermen to wade above their waist because the lower pockets are not waterproof, and they fill up with water and they don't have any drain holes so when you exit the water, you have pockets full of water. No wading jacket should have lower pockets. This is a change they didn't make with the new version so I wont be "upgrading" and the last version the seams around the pocket started to pull.
This jacket will keep you dry in rain, however if you wade a lot and have to cross a deeper stretch or wade deeper then your waist you wont like this jacket much. I don't know anyone who likes carrying an extra few pounds of water in their pockets.... do you?

good jacket, bad design

Ok this jacket is great if you don't get in the water, sorry but I wade fairly deep in all kinds of conditions and having two pockets at waist level just doesn't cut it, they fill with water, would work for the guy who doesn't get his feet wet but not for me. I don't need to have two pockets full of water sloshing around. Maybe Cabelas should call this a RAIN jacket not a WADING jacket!
