I've used the Cabela's Hollow Lead Weight for the past couple years for steelhead fishing. The lead holds up and is soft enough for a pair of pliers to cut without much effort. The only time I ever have to switch the lead out is when I snag and my line snaps. Mostly the leader breaks off and the lead is salvageable. I still have the first roll of lead that I bought two years ago.
I use this as slip weight material for lindy rigs. They work fantastic. They don't get hung up on rocks in Canada like normal slip weights. I pre measure the weights out to 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 and have a few on hand. In the 5 years of using this. I have maybe lost 2.
