Cabela's Instinct Fast Tracker Hunting Pack Reviews:

Awesome hunting pack

I checked out this pack at a Cabelas store on a recent trip to Denver, and ordered it as soon as I got home. I have been looking for a while for a good large daypack/backpack for deer hunting. I wanted a pack that is very light (this one weighs only about half as much as some of its competitors), very roomy, with a comfortable suspension. Here it is! I got to use it yesterday on a long day hunt in the mountains and here are my impressions. First, the suspension fits me perfectly and allows the weight to go on my hips, like a proper backpack. (Note: I am 5'8" and don't know how this pack would fit smaller or larger folks.) On most hunting daypacks the hip belt rides too high but on this pack it sits perfectly on my hips. The hip belt is fairly thin but it conforms to my body perfectly and is comfortable with a load. I like the zippered pouch on the belt that can be put on either side and keeps things handy like extra ammo, headlamp, and wind bottle. I didn't find the little "cell phone" pouch on the other side of the hip belt to be useful so I took it off. There are plenty of pockets which are useful for carrying water bottles, spotting scope, etc. The material of the pack is fairly thin nylon so we will have to see how it holds up over time, but that allows the extremely light weight. Because it is nylon, the material is not inherently quiet like fleece, but I did not find that to be an issue at all while I was carrying it, most of the time cross country and snaking through trees and brush. While the pack is has a very large volume, it conforms to the size of my body very well so it doesn't stick out to the sides or over my head -- this contributed to quiet walking since it wasn't striking brush. No squeaks or rattles or rustles either. Coming out after dark yesterday 1200 feet up out of a canyon the pack was just as comfortable as when I put it on that morning. This is a great pack!

Best All Day Comfort and Support

This pack was a great buy for my elk hunt and I couldn't have asked for a better pack for day after day 1-2 mile spot and stalks in the high country. The pack is lighweight, with all day comfort carrying next to nothing as well as having it fully loaded, side pockets give plenty of room for bone saw and knives and other necessities. I was even able to carry my tripod between the side pocket and the pack with a small pocket and adjustable strap at the bottom to keep it from sliding all the way through, belt adjusts well and weight is distributed perfect on the shoulders and hips. The shoulder straps stayed in place while hiking and the mesh back kept me cool on hot days. Thanks for a great product Cabela's!

Best pack I own

I have bought so many packs over the years and some really expensive packs as well. This is the lightest and best pack I own, I have packed out several deer with this pack and have carried it for dozens of miles. Very light and very comfortable, durable and great load balance. I even use it as a day pack now as it is lighter than my other day packs. Get this pack and you will not be disappointed.

Awesome pack, even better value!!

After months of research I settled on this pack for a week long Idaho bivy hunt. Size, weight, comfort all surpassed my expectations. You can pay much more for packs smaller in size. Great value and a great product.
