Cabela's L-Tech/Lamson Wlx Fly Combo -
Save more than $100 when you pair an L-Tech Fly rod with a WLx reel loaded with Prestige Premier WF Floating fly line and Cabela’s Prestige backing compared to purchasing the equipment in this combo separately.
Our top-of-the-line L-Tech fly rods are among the lightest and most powerful on the market. Best of all, this high-tech performance is available at a price no other rods in their class can touch. The L-Tech’s innovative design required us to think outside the box. One look tells you these are not like any other fly rods. One cast will tell you the same. The primary goal was to reduce all unnecessary weight. During the design process, everything that could go is gone, leaving only a rod in its most pure and elite form. The exposed-blank reel seat is crafted of high-grade machined aluminum with a bronze finish and a techy look worthy of the design. The seat has two sections. The hood fits up into the cork handle. The threaded barrel section encloses the butt end of the blank. This eliminates the unnecessary weight of the middle insert. The bond with the blank remains as strong as conventional reel seats. The up-locking Delrin® ring ensures the locking nut will snug the reel securely into place. A proprietary blend of IM6, IM7 and IM8 graphite achieves a balance between line-zipping fast action and lightweight strength. It flawlessly transfers energy between the backcast and forward cast, propelling line to your target with accuracy and sizzling speeds. L-Tech rods incorporate REC Recoil stripper guides made of nickel titanium alloy for added weight reduction and durability. Recoil guides always return to their original shape, won’t corrode and are 50% lighter than other types of stripper guides. The remaining rod guides are a combination of titanium carbide double-foot snake guides and tip top. 25-year limited warranty.
The WLx series earns its elite position by exhibiting the same exacting machined tolerances, lightweight design and reliability Lamson has built a reputation on delivering. Clad in a two-toned, nonglare anodized finish, the 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum is fully CNC-machined and matched with stainless steel components to blend superior light weight with rugged strength. Solid machined spool further increases overall strength-to-weight ratio. Aggressive large-arbor ratios promote maximum line pickup speed and minimum line coil memory. The proven-reliable sealed drag consists of stacked, smooth-braking Rulon® discs with a two-stage compression drag spring that accommodates a wide range of drag pressures. Ball-bearing drag-knob with detents ensures positive, smooth drag selection. Large knurled drag knob for ease of adjustment in wet conditions. Easy tool-less conversion from left- to right-hand retrieve. 25-year. limited warranty.

Cabela's L-Tech/Lamson Wlx Fly Combo Review:

Great Combo!

I love this combo! I have the 9' 5wt. 4piece rod. I have only used it once (recieved it early this week), but caught about 25 fish while fishing nymphs, dry flies, and streamers. Rod, reel, and line all perfomed great. The rod has some backbone, but still provides the feel and action I personally prefer. Time will tell on the durability, but I am confident in Cabela's and Lamson to provide excellent warranty service as needed. One thing I was unable to determine prior to purchasing was that the reel does click during retrieve and drag, which I generally don't like; however, it is very subtle so it turns out that I don't even notice or think about it.
