Cabela's L-Tech Salt/Wlx Fly Combo -
Save when you pair an L-Tech fly rod with our WLx reels. Saltwater combos include Prestige Plus Saltwater weight-forward floating fly line and backing.
All the featherlight, smooth-loading power of our best-selling L-Tech series is now available in rods optimized for the demands of saltwater fly fishing. The available weights and fast actions perform flawlessly, especially in the high-wind, sight-casting situations you’re likely to encounter when targeting the most popular saltwater species. Each model comes equipped with corrosion-resistant components. These fly rods are among the lightest and most powerful on the market at prices no competitor can touch. Blanks are precision-crafted of a proprietary blend of IM6, IM7 and IM8 graphite for the ideal balance of line-zipping fast action and lightweight strength. It flawlessly transfers energy between the backcast and forward cast, accurately propelling line to your target. The threaded barrel section of the reel seat encloses the butt end of the blank to eliminate the extra weight of a middle insert and to ensure a secure bond with the blank. An up-locking Delrin® ring ensures the locking nut snugs the reel securely in place. Corrosion-resistant nickel-titanium-alloy REC Recoil stripper guides are 50% lighter than traditional guides and return to their original shape. 25-year limited warranty.
The WLx series earns its elite position by exhibiting the same exacting machined tolerances, lightweight design and reliability Lamson has built a reputation on delivering. Clad in a two-toned, nonglare anodized finish, the 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum is fully CNC machined and matched with stainless steel components to blend superior light weight with rugged strength. Solid machined spool further increases overall strength-to-weight ratio. Aggressive large-arbor ratios promote maximum line pickup speed and minimum line coil memory. The proven-reliable sealed drag consists of stacked, smooth-braking Rulon® discs with a two-stage compression drag spring that accommodates a wide range of drag pressures. Ball-bearing drag knob with detents ensures positive, smooth drag selection. Large knurled drag knob for ease of adjustment in wet conditions. Easy tool-less conversion from left- to right-hand retrieve. 25-year limited warranty.

Cabela's L-Tech Salt/Wlx Fly Combo Reviews:

Great Setup!

Bought the 12 wt. LTech/WLX combo to fish tarpon in Costa Rica. Also took a 10 wt St. Croix/Lamson setup for fishing the rivers and it broke on the first day, so I was left with the 12 wt LTech/WLX outfit for the rest of the trip. After casting the 12 wt for a bit, I decided I liked it better than the 10 wt outfit I had been fishing. The 12 wt is very well balanced, light weight, and has a good fast action for tight loops with weighted flies. Plenty of rod and reel for 100 pound tarpon. I liked this setup so well that I bought two more LTech Rods - 8 wt and 10 wt. Love the rod and the reel! Planning to use these setups for golden dorado, payara, peacock bass, etc in S. America over the next several years as well as tarpon and billfish in the salt. One note: for really big tough fish and using heavy leaders, I typically use heavier backing. I spooled up with 250 yards of 80# braided line for backing instead of the 30# dacron that comes with the outfit.

catching the bones

started fly fishing a few months ago, never caught so much bone fish. Loving every minute of it. I would recommend the L-tech salt/WLx combo.
