Return of a classic

About a year back I left a searing review of the 'new' 7- pocket hikers (velcro closures, slim tight pockets, etc.), declaring that I wouldn't buy another pair, and urged Cabela's to return to the 'old-style' shorts. I am thoroughly impressed that they did just that. It is heartening to see a company actually listen to its customers. The 2012-release 'Legendary' 7-pocket hikers are constructed spot-on to the originals as far as I can tell. The range of color choices is down (no denim, no blue), and the field khaki is a darker brown than I recall on the previous versions. But the construction and design is back and highly functional again. If I had to offer a suggested improvement, it'd be to bring back a blue denim version. Regardless, I bought 3 pairs at a retail store this weekend. They fit wonderfully, and hold just as much gear as the originals. Thanks for listening. Well done.

Great Product - Great Price

Customer reviews are important to me - known fact, everyone has a different opinion of what is a Great product. Legendary Hikers, no joke, Great product from quality, design & value plus 700+ reviews confirm that. The product description is spot-on w/ material, color, sizing & the pockets are big enough for the necessities on the trail head.

Negative Reviews:

Basic design Is just OK.

I have several pair of the "button" style shorts. The inseam at 7" is good. The basic design is good, but....there needs to be be velcro closures on the pockets instead of old fashion buttons. I have two pairs of this short with velcro and I much prefer them over the button style. A "smart" phone pocket with a velcro closure also needs to be added to the side. Last, but not least an elastic plus belt loops waist band would help with a more comfortable and secure fit. Pleated fronts also work better than plain fronts. Use a jean style metal rivet button for the main fastener above the zipper. If you do all of this you can raise the price and sell them as "Super Hikers" or "World's Best Hikers".
