Most of my alaska guide series tent stakes are bent due to pounding into granite soil in CA. These stakes are shorter and lighter, but did the job I needed. Which was to stake the tent down. The only thing about the design of these stakes is that there isn't much of a lip to engage the tent loop for the stakes.
These stakes are almost lighter than air and yet can still be hammered through just about anything thats softer than limestone. However, they are no good for really soft earth or snow because their small profile and smooth surface cause them to pull out too easily.
