Cabela's Outfitter Lodge Tents with Frame by Montana Canvas -
At the pinnacle of our industry-leading tent selection stands the impressive Montana Lodge – the biggest advancement in lodge tents since the canvas wall tent. More than just a better tent, this one is designed to improve your camping experience. We scrutinized every detail to ensure this is the best large-capacity tent you can own. The interior spaciousness, centralized camp stove and weight reduction are just the kind of innovations you’ve come to expect from Cabela’s. The unique hexagon shape creates a spacious interior that comfortably sleeps up to six people. The 5-ft. side walls and 9’8" ceiling height add ample headroom. A heavy-duty 1.375" dia. aluminum frame supports the well-balanced structure, ensuring a high level of support and stability. We moved the camp stove into the middle of the tent just like a campfire in the center of every campsite. Now you can experience campfire camaraderie inside the comfort of the tent. The roof is made of 10.9-oz. white cotton duck treated with fire retardants, waterproofing and mildew inhibitors. The floor sides and end walls are made of Relite™ with the same treatments as the canvas top. Relite is a polyester-based material that is extremely lightweight, durable and more resistant to destructive ultraviolet rays than traditional nylon. Two large zippered doors with screens allow easy access. Other features include four windows and a zip-in floor with a zipper opening in the center for camp-stove placement. Made in USA.

  • Complete tent and frame system

  • Maximum ventilation and weather resistance

  • Centrally located stove placement
  • Two full-height doors

Simply the best...

This is my fourth Montana Canvas Blended tent I have purchased. This tent is an awesome design because it like taking a rectangle tent and taking out the 4 sections of rafter poles, 4 legs and 2 ridge poles out of the weight of the tent frame. In doing so, each of the walls has room for Cabela's XL cot and leaves the center of the tent wide open. The placement of the tent stove is perfect. The windows are ideally located for cross ventilation and the 5' high walls makes for greater and better use of the space. I know, all of my other tents have 4'walls so this is a very nice upgrade. If I could change anything, I would like the option to have a double sided vinyl floor which is far more durable and usable during snow melt season. But since this is currently not an option, it would be great to have a 10-mil tarp that fits this tent shape for below and above the floor as a floor saver. My only gripe not only with this tent, but all the others too is the rain fly rope. The rope that comes with the tent is great quality and quantity. But the optional rain fly, does not come with Montana Canvas rope. So you have to call Montana Canvas directly to buy the rope. How ridiculous is that? The rain fly is not really for rain, but should be called a spark fly, to protect the tent roof from embers from the tent stove. I also recommend "Tent Mates" which are "S" hooks that slip on the side ridge poles for hanging pots, towels etc. You will have to do a search to find them. They're a great complementary product to all Montana Canvas Tents. (Montana Canvas does not make or sell them, nor does Cabela's). Also note if you price out a rectangle Montana Canvas blended tent with 5 foot walls and the tent frame of similar size to this tent you will find that this tent is about a $400 savings. So its a very good value. Get it, it is the best design.

Cabela's Montana Lodge Tent

I had a chance to use the lodge tent this season in the mountains of Colorado. We had four guys with cots and room to spare and the center stove design was great the tent heated evenly no matter which side you were on. This tent held up great to a week and a half of wind, rain and snow. One thing I will say is grab and extra section of pipe for your stove, you'll need to to clear the high ceiling.

MT lodge Nightmare

I purchased the MT lodge to camp, fish and hunt with my boys. I really thought it would be a good long term investment that we would get years of enjoyment out of. Then we took our first long weekend camping trip, I have never had such a hard time setting a tent up. You have to actually crawl into the tent between the floor and the canvas top, assemble the frame while inside and then try to lift and set the side,(wall) poles while standing on the floor. You actually feel very claustrophobic and it gets tense! Set up took almost 2 hours. Take down was almost as difficult as you have to lift the rafters to remove the side poles while standing on the floor then the whole tent collapses onto you and you have to disassemble and shove the pieces (frame) out a door from inside, you really feel like your working against yourself. We were camping with friends who had a 16x24 traditional wall tent and frame, they were set up in 1/2 hour and laughing at me. There were a couple of good features. The tent is bright and roomy, four large windows and high roof made for an open feeling. We had four cots a 55 gallon wood stove a small table and didn't feel cramped or crowded. I am thinking about cutting the flour out along the seam to make set up easier but it gripes me to spend that kind of money and have to start cutting the tent up. Right now because of the set up issues I would not recommend this to a friend.

Lodge Nightmare 2

Our experience mimics the same issues as Lodge Nightmare!
Received wrong instructions (for another wall tent) tent poles were sharp at the edges causing tears in the canvas the first time we attempted a setup that took over three hours and lots of lost religion. Did not fit the Xl cots that we purchased from Cabelas around the outside edge without blocking the door. All our other 4 Cabela's tents were as presented, not this one! We are returning it as not satisfactory with the defective poles that tore tent. We will, however, order another tent to replace it from Cabela's outfitter series that we have had very favorable results with in another bigger size that will work better for our needs.
