Excellent Gear

I bought the parka and pants based upon a friend recommendation for the 2013 KS Deer Season. Temps this year were down to -2F and -10 to -15 wind chill opening week and this gear exceeded my expectations. I was wearing long underwear and a sweatshirt underneath and was sweating while tracking/scouting deer. Some of the other reviews I read mentioned the gear was noisy but I didn't have this opinion. I would highly recommend this gear to anyone hunting in similar conditions.

Not the same

My only 'complaint' is that it is advertised at a 97/3 wool mix. It arrived as 90/10%. That is a significant difference to me, particularly in that I am planning a mid-winter Canadian hunt and wanted as much wool in 22 oz. as possible. The Dry-Plus Legacy Wool Parka is 24 oz. and may be warmer. Good design. Will see how warm it is..

good old wool

Take good old wool and add Dry-plus and this parka is exactly what I wanted. It keeps me warm and dry in our Wisconsin late seasons. And being it's washable when you get that welcomed blood on it,clean-up is easy . The bibs are just as good .

Negative Reviews:

Warm wool coat ruined by the little details.

This is a very warm, well made wool coat. The hood snugs down right, the elbows are double layered, the stitching has held up like new for two years now. But they got all the little details dead wrong. The zipper is too small to use with gloves on and the useless two way function makes it fidgety even without them. The handwarmer pockets are so tight you cant use them while wearing gloves. There are only two outside pockets and they're tiny and not bellowed so they'll barely fit a knit cap or candy bar. The cuffs are too tight to tuck gloves or base layers into. Cabela's can do better than this, I also have the Shirt Jac from the same clothing line and the cuffs are fine, the handwarmer pockets are huge, and there are big chest pockets. Combining the two would make the perfect coat but as is this isn't it.
