Positive Reviews:

Beginners Luck

I'm just starting to tie flies again after many years. Trying to get materials together to tie was made very easy with the Premium Fly Tying Kit.

Not Very Satisfied

I am not one to give a bad review of an item unless it is truly warranted.
I purchased this assortment several months ago to get me going in fly tying. In hind sight I would have gone another way.
The kit does indeed provide you with quite a bit of material for the price, but you get materials of very low quality for the most part.
The marabou, hackle, cdc, chenille, deer hair and peacock were of especially low quality. The deer hair was missing as many tips as it had, meaning that there were a lot of broken hairs making it essentially useless. The peacock was very dry (possibly quite old) and extremely fragile, totally useless. The marabou was very clumped up and not very nice compared to premium quality stuff.
The zonker strips, buck tail (both actually pretty good), wire, hooks, cement, dubbing and thread were fine but most of the materials were not very good and have been relegated to the bottom of my bin in favor of better quality materials.
If I were to make an initial purchase of materials again I would just pick a couple patterns to tie and buy only materials specifically for those patterns. Once I got the hang of it I would then expand my material collection from there.

Not Premium Materials

If you are just beginning to tie flies, this is probably an adequate starter kit. However, a few items were pretty low quality-the chenielle, Roster Necks and a couple of other items. I would also recommend switching out the lead wire and including lead free alternative. There were a couple of items missing that I would strongly recommend for a kit like this, namely a Red Buck tail, a white calf tail, black floss and brown thread.
