Very nice smoker

I received this smoker as a gift, after looking at a number of other ones. I have used it a number of times and I'm very happy with the results! The one piece of advice is to buy a good digital thermometer. Just like others will tell you, don't rely on the external thermometer. The smoker is well built and is of decent quality.

Smoker of Choice

I purchased the Premium Powder Coated(propane) Cooker/Smoker a few months ago....and have smoked several batches of Elk strips with it..I am some impressed the temp control and flavor of the smoked meat from this smoker...much prefer using this over an electric model from a generic brand..i would highly recommend this unit to anyone whom prefers smoked game...

Neutral Reviews:

an okay smoker

I bought this mainly as a smoker. I've smoked two pork butts and a bunch of fish and it's all turned out great, so it gets the job done. After a season season stored outside but under cover, most of the cast iron parts, especially around the burner, and many of the fasteners are rusted. The finish on the cover has also lost its shine. The thermostat on top was at least 25 degrees off out of the box, so it's basically useless for trying to maintain specific temp. The piezo ignitor failed after the first use, probably because of heat from the burner. Wind blows the propane burner out easily, so you need to either pick and choose your days carefully or find a way to shelter it from wind. Other than these deficiencies, I'm fairly happy with it. I like the flexibility that it offers, but will probably replace it with a unit that's just made for smoking next time around.

Smoker Issues

The smoker works well so far as heating quickly and maintaining the desired temperature for hours. However, the dome lid fits around the outside of the upper barrel rim instead of being nested on the inside. The result is that grease that accumulates in the dome runs down the outside of the smoker barrels, creating a mess that is very difficult to clean up.
