Cabela's Provault Safes By Liberty -
Store your firearms and valuables with confidence and peace of mind in a ProVault Safe by Liberty. Heavy-duty, two-piece door and body construction is six times stronger than competing designs. There are no seams exposed to potential prying attacks. Extra-hard plate protects the lock mechanism from drilling and punching. Ten 4" military-style locking bars provide stronger security in the door’s four corners. Break-resistant lock-down hinges are stronger than traditional welded hinges. A dual-action stabilizer in the locking system ensures the locking bars engage evenly and consistently. The Suretight handle is outfitted with a slip clutch so no matter how much a would-be thief tries to torque the handle with a pipe, it will protect the locking mechanism by slipping. Fire protection rating is 30 minutes at 1,200°F. The 1" composite fire door is outfitted with a Palusol® door seal that expands up to seven times when exposed to high heat in order to protect safe contents. The door opens 180° for convenient access to safe contents, and extra shelving allows for storage of both firearms and accessories or valuables. New S&G locks. Lifetime warranty on safe (fire or attempted break-in) and locking mechanism. Lock and paint has a 5-year warranty.

12 Gun Safe

We purchased the 12 gun safe 3 months ago. Construction is very high quality. As others have commented, there's no way you'll get 12 rifles in this safe, but I knew that before purchasing. I'm very happy with this safe, but I was aware of the limitations before I purchased. Be aware that if you need quick access for home defense, this safe probably isn't for you. Opening requires not only a number combination, but a specific dial combination (number of times dial needs to be turned between combination numbers). My best time for opening is about 40 seconds, and this is not in a stressful situation. This is ok just so you're aware when purchasing. An electronic lock would be much quicker, but I think a mechanical combination is safer. When we were looking at electronic safes at other stores, one was actually disabled because the electronic access code had been incorrectly entered too many times, and it was locked down making the contents inaccessible. We preferred the reliability of the mechanical combination knowing that it would take a few seconds longer to open, and we didn't have to worry about batteries. There are pre-drilled holes in the bottom for securing the safe to your floor, but they are not centered for standard 16 inch floor joists. If you use the pre-drilled holes, the only thing you have holding the safe down is particle board or plywood (whatever your floor is made of.) To mitigate this, I cut a 1 inch hardwood plywood base the size of the base, secured this plywood by bolting into the floor joists, and then I bolted the safe to the secured plywood base, and the floor underneath. This very solidly secured the safe to the floor. The interior is nicely upholstered with a carpet like fabric, including an upholstered panel on the inside of the door that would easily and securely hold Velcro. Definitely purchase an interior motion activated light for this safe. The combination on this safe can *not* be changed from the factory set combination. The manufacturer offers a free and secure combination "escrow" in case you forget the combination. They can also look up the combination based on the serial number, but there is a small fee. Learn the combination and store it in a safe place (but not inside your safe) Pros:
High quality construction.
Can be bolted to floor.
Port to run electric cable through for light and humidity control.
Interior nicely upholstered, can use Velcro. Cons:
Bolt holes are not standard 16 inch centers.
12 rifles will not fit without scratching stocks. We have 5 rifles and they barely fit without touching each other.
Not conducive to quick access for an emergency.
Barrel cutouts for rifles are too high, we had to extend the collapsible stocks to allow the barrels to reach the cutouts. Despite the cons, I'm rating this at 5 stars because I was aware of the cons when purchasing. Overall it has very nicely exceeded my expectations.

High Quality Safe

This is a great safe first off, I would not expect anything less from a American made product. I bought the 12 gun safe it was delivered to my house no problem, but have a good dolly and a buddy to help you move it up any stairs as it is very top heavy and weighs over 200lbs. So obviously this safe does not hold 12 guns...why they market it that way I don't know. The only way you would ever get that many in there would be if they were all 22 longs with no scopes. I have 4 rifles in mine and might be able to get another 2 in. But I read the reviews before hand and knew this would be the case, I only needed space for half a dozen guns so I new it would be fine.
Just like another helpful review I read I realized that this is not a quick access safe at all. The combination is very sensitive on the mechanical dial and not your ordinary gym locker lock. Which is fine if you want to keep them secure, but make sure that you realize that you can't keep your home defender in there, it's going to take you about a minute to open it every time. In fact I even tried to go fast with the combination and it won't open. The directions even say to go slow because there is some kind of anti tamper device in the mechanism.
So all in all this is a great safe, high quality, American made, great service, and piece of mind knowing your guns and valuables are safe.

A potential bad expirience to GREAT

I recently purchased a safe from Cabelas in Allen Texas. I got the safe home and in place however when I went to open the safe the door was catching and I have to work the door to open and close it. Thats the "BAD" part. Heres the "GREAT". I (reluctantey) called the number in the owners manual to see what could be done to solve the problem. After being placed on hold for a few minutes the customer service rep pick up my call, and I could not believe it someone I could communicate with and could actually help me with out having to transfer me to 6 differant people causing me to tell my story 6 times. She took down my information and told me somene would be at my house the same day between 2 and 4 OR I had the option of scheduling a time that was convenient for me. I could not believe it I was expiriencing GREAT customer service. The gentleman showed up at the scheduled time and fixed the problem (same day). Product Made in the USA and customer service Made in the USA and a company that stands behind their product. Well done Liberty and I highly recommend looking at any of their products before buying!

Neutral Reviews:

Well this is about the cheapest safe you can get, and you get what you pay for. The "inside" dimensions are a lie, take off 8 inches for when the door closes. Really (if you want to actually close the door) you can only put 3 or 4 guns in the back. Forget about about scoped rifles, long shotguns, or any kind of case, padded, hard or otherwise. You cannot even fit a pistol case in the top. The rubber stripping on two sides came off the first time I opened the door. Not sure what my options are with this one but it was a painful waste of money.
