Bad experience

I love the quickdraw rod holders and decided to put them on my new boat with rails. I cranked the mounts down as hard as I dared. I set the setscrews until the hex wrench twisted. No way to get them tighter. While on our first fishing trip to Lake Oahe we were drifting. The rod either snagged or hooked up on a large fish and slipped on the rail. An expensive rod and reel combo went in the drink! I hate these things. I loved my flush mount quickdraws but didn't want to drill the holes in my new fiberglass boat. Big mistake. I have no confidence in these things and have to figure out what to do now! By the way, it was no easy chore to mount them either since I had to remove the factory installed rails to tighten the setscrews.

Only Ok Rod Holder

I bought 6 of these, sort of a pain to install on the rail of my ranger. I had to actually remove the rails and then put the set screw on the bottom of the holder. Even after all of this it still wiggles around. It's a good idea, but it doesn't seem to secure to the rail all that well. I'll put more of a review on once I use it.
