Better than Carhartt??
These are the heaviest pair of shorts I own. They placed extra material and rivets on every pocket and the front pockets even have three layers of fabric. Plenty of belt loops help to keep the pants up. They are a little stiff, but after owning 4 pairs of Carhartt double front pants, I know these will soften up with time. My only complaint is the leg opening is HUGE. Not a problem if you have MONSTER legs, but average legs won't come close to filling them. This is not that big of a deal as I will use them for work.
Tough, Durable
Cabalas products are almost always high quality. Cabalas Roughneck Cargo shorts are tough and durable. The heavy material is well stitched. There is ample room in the pockets. I love the comfort and fit. I have a few pair and will get more if these ever wear out.
tight at the hips
Although I love the weight and durability of the fabric (great for construction), these shorts felt as if the waist band pushed down on my hips making them a bit snug.

I find these shorts too stiff. They are heavy weight but for shorts is that really what you want.
