Looks Great but a "Checkered" Past

When all is said and done the glider looks great and operates well but there were problems. Firstly, it was packaged very poorly with pieces falling out of the box on delivery. Next there is the issue of “checking”. Much of the documentation tells you how great the cracks in the wood are. They are not cracks; the wood is “checkered”. Well some of the pieces had huge checking so I filled them with wood putty and did a lot of sanding. I also chose to finish it with lacquer to protect it against “bird strikes”. So if you choose to ignore the checking and go with a natural finish you can assemble it in a little over an hour. Me, I’m still working on it. The picture is in it’s essentially complete state.
