Salt Striker Surf 10

I just got my Salt Striker Surf spinning cork handle 10', rated 2 - 4 oz in Dec 11. Have had it out just a couple of times in Jan 12 and performs well paired with a sargus 6000. 2 - 4 is just the range we throw mostly 3. Was testing it side by side with my St C Premier 10' rated 3/4 - 3 oz and throwing 3 oz, although a tad stiffer the Salt Striker still handled itself well. Good rod for the price point. I have a Salt Striker inshore spinning which gave me the confidence to try the surf rod. Just now 1-29-12 I see they're offering the split grip, sorry they're messing up a good rod. lol the 10' is now rated 2 - 8 oz. That would be more rod than I'd want or need, so glad I got in under the wire. I wouldn't have bought a 2 - 8 oz.

Great All-Day-Long Surf Rod

This light but powerful rod can be used all day without the fatigue and muscle strain you get from heavier sticks. Even unskilled or smaller casters can get great distance from this rod. It stands up well to heavy fish and there are no signs of guide or grip wear in mine after two full seasons of use. Its a bit light for heavy lures and weights (over 4 oz), but its great for flinging 2-3 oz lures and bait rigs a country mile. This rod compares favorably with much more expensive equipment. Highly recommended.

...what a rod, Cabelas!! It feels tough yet very responsive. Hold this rod while it's bending on a thirty pound striped-bass and you'll know what I'm talking about. The 12 footer paired with a Pflueger Medalist, this is my primary surf rod.
