Grizz Trick

Shot a large antlerless this season with a Generation 1 Grizz Trick. Perfect quartering away shot at 15 yards, but hit off side leg. The deer only made it 20 yards (if that) after the shot. Not a terrific amount of blood due to no exit, but not the broadhead's fault just shot placement could have been better. Found broadhead buried in forearm meat after the arrow somehow ran down the leg from behind the off side shoulder. Weird arrow path. Broadhead was fine with the exception of one blade had the edge bent over badly. Come to find out, the Generation 2 Grizz Trick blades will not work in the Generation 1 heads. These things are great broadheads, but be sure that you buy the Generation 2 style so that you are not stuck trying to find replacement blades. The ones I can find are almost the price of a new set of Generation 2 broadheads. So I am just ordering a new Generation 2 set of Grizz Tricks from Cabela's. The design was changed from the Generation 1 to be a more aerodynamic head to shoot better in new speedy bows. With the washer that comes with them, I always tune the broadhead to the shaft and never got any accuracy issues with the Generation 1 style head in the first place. But Slick Trick says that the new style shoots even better in the newer, faster bows.
May your shot be true and blood trails short!

I just tried these broadheads this year, so far they are okay. They do not fly as true as field points and don't group as well, and they are louder in flight than I would like. But i have shot two does and both dropped within 70 yards. One I shot in the head at 30 yards and the other was a 10 yard shot missing the spine and ending up one lunging her. 0-25 yards they fly quite well after 25 they start to get squirrelly in flight. Blood trails are easy to follow and tip is definetly durable.

Excellant fixed blade broadheads

I've been hunting with Slick Trick broadheads for about six years. They fly the best of any fixed blade broadhead I've ever shot. They also have the sharpest blades. These new Grizz Trick 2 heads are no different.
