Good Starter Snowshoe

This is our first snowshoe. Temperature was in the -5 to zero F degree range and about 18 inches of snow. I have the 30 inch model and my wife uses the 21 inch model. Both provided good float in the snow. We had no groomed trails to follow during 4+ miles of adventure. Bindings worked OK and snowshows never came off. The binding on the 21" model did want to rub slightly on the decking material as another poster noted. I wore my Cabelas's leather hunting boots (size 11.5 and 400 grams insulation) and they fit the binding OK. A bigger boot with more insulation would be tight. Cleats worked great and never slipped on steep up and down hill sections. Great beginner snowshoe. We loved them. For off trail use, I'd stay with the size recomendations Cabela's has listed. Upgraded ratchet binidngs of the other models would be nice if you use them often. For the price these are great.

Great starter Snowshoes

When I turned 73 I decided it was time to give snowshoeing a try. I trust Cabela"s for good outdoor equipment so I looked on line for a good snowshoe for a beginner. The Snowy Range snowshoe was described as a beginner snowshoe so I ordered a pair. I have only been out on them twice but I am convinced these are excellent beginner snowshoes. I had to adjust the bindings a couple of times and they are a little stiff when one is out in the cold. I recommend these snowshoes to anyone who wants to get started in the activity.

Good value!

I bought a pair for both my wife and I. We like getting out in the winter to photograph wildlife. Have only used once - about 3 miles. Very pleased. They are lightweight, and a big improvement over just boots. Even on semi-used trails, the extra traction is a big plus. Easy to use without poles. Definitely recommend.

Negative Reviews:

POOR DESIGN

We purchased a pair for the Niece and will be taking them back. The clearance in the toe box area is way too small and the binding can't pivot unless more plastic webbing is trimmed away. My wife has different brand in the same size (21) and it has at least 1/2 inch more clearance in the toe pivot area.
